Amazon sold the book because there policy, until a bunch of idiots made a fuss, was that they would not censor anything, and would sell anything that is legal. If the FBI can convince a judge that they have probable cause to demand that Amazon turn over the records of everyone who purchased that book then they should investigate. On the other hand, if they cannot convince a judge, should they be able to demand a list of customers from Amazon? Wouldn't that violate their right to privacy? Or something? Or do you only think people have a right to privacy if they do not read stuff you don't like? Should Amazon also turn over customer record for people who buy Anarchist Cookbook and other questionable books?

But in more recent decades, Larry Flint's "freedom of speech" case opened the door for pornography as an art form and that ruling has led to even more challenges for filth to fall under the "freedom of speech" clause.
