I read an article the other day that said we're approaching Peak Light, and that by the end of 2011 our daylight hours will start to get shorter and shorter until we have absolutely no light at all by 2014 at the latest. I don't have a link to the article at the moment but I'm hoping this still scares the living shit out of you.
