Paul Ryan Mocks Senior Citizen Handcuffed At His Town Hall

Ryan, on the other hand, is getting shouted down by liberals simply because he has had the courage to propose reforms to entitlement programs that EVERYONE should know have to be fixed or they will overwhelm our ability to pay for them in about a decade.

Some folks aren't taking kindly to the House passing legislation to end Medicare? How unpredictable.

At least he's got most of the public on his side:

By a margin of 57 percent to 34 percent, poll respondents say they would be worse off if Ryan’s plan to convert Medicare to a system of subsidized private health coverage were adopted. Fifty-eight percent of independents, a critical voting bloc in recent elections, say they would be worse off.

Whoops. There goes the appeal to poll-driven policy. Why are Republicans ignoring the voters?!

I hate when people don't know how the system is supposed to work so they say something rhetorical and think they sound smart. Usually it doesn't work out that way. Don't worry though, you're no different.

Paul Ryan Mocks Senior Citizen Handcuffed At His Town Hall: ‘I Hope He’s Taking His Blood Pressure Medication’

By Marie Diamond

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI), the author of the House GOP plan to phase out Medicare, does not like it when constituents publicly challenge him. In fact, people who disagree with Ryan have a habit of getting arrested for it. A few weeks ago, several of Ryan’s unemployed constituents staged a peaceful sit-in at his Kenosha, Wisconsin office to protest his unpopular decision not to hold any free public town halls during the August recess. These constituents didn’t think they should have to pay to ask their elected representative a question. Instead of meeting with them, Ryan’s staff called the police.

paul ryan is a spoiled brat who needed a good spanking from his own grandmother.

Can you name more than, say, six that aren't?

I can't.... and that goes for both parties.

Which means to CON$titutional CON$ervatives that she has no CON$titutional Rights. :cuckoo:
Kick her while she's down!!

Constitutional rights? What constitutional right of hers was violated? She tried to physically confront Rand Paul to cause a scene and got stopped by his supporters. She got what she wanted. A good little MoveOn.org member, she went to Kentucky from Washington DC with the intent of embarrassing Paul and succeeded in doing so. It's the same exact technique the protesters were using in Wisconsin. Cause a scene...get the police involved...then cry to the media that your "rights" have been impinged on.
You mean she tried to hand a check to the bought and paid for Paul and was mugged by his paid thugs. It was Paul's goons who "caused a scene."

She ran up to the side of Paul's vehicle and tried to stick her placard in the open window at which point security people grabbed her and took her to the ground, knocking her blonde wig off. You'll note that as soon as the one man steps on her, other people in the group of Rand supporters immediately tell him not to do that and he stops. Paul didn't have "goons"...he had security...security that reacted to her provocation. She was the one who went to Kentucky. She was the one who stalked Paul. It's what she DOES! She's a professional activist.

She didn't run anywhere. Paul's car pulled up right in front of her and then she was assaulted by his paid goons when she handed him a check symbolizing the fact that he was paid for. Paul's thugs assaulted her for confronting the paid shill with the truth. Truth will get you a beating from the Teabaggers.

For someone who claims to be a 'cynic', you seem remarkably one sided in your 'cynicism'. I have yet to see you question the 'facts' as presented by those who best suit your views. That's not being a 'cynic', ed, that's being a hack.

He's only cynicical with certain groups anything else he's a hack.

Much ado about nothing. All Ryan did was joke that he hoped the man took his blood pressure medication. Big fucking whoop. What ever the cops did to the guy, that was on their own accord and had nothing to do with Ryan.

Nothing to see here. Just more phony outrage from our forum Marxists.
 If this didn't involve a Republican official you'd be yelling police state and slamming the politician for benefiting from the police state.

Very disappointing.

Sorry, but there are videos of the event and on some you can see a Paul thug in a suit start running at her as the car is pulling right up in front of her before she does anything, the video then shows the suited thug's attack in slo-mo. She is grabbed by Paul's goons and the car pulls up past her, Paul gets out very casually and walks away to the entrance shaking hands with supporters as he walks and is clearly well away from her when his goons throw her to the ground and stomp on her while she is down. Any claims that his goons were trying to protect him are pure bullshit.

End MEdicare? Really? What is the new plan going to be called?
How many times will you repeat this lie, having been shown over and over it is a lie?
WHich party recently moved to slash funding for Medicare? Hint, it wasn't the GOP.

Love the Rand Paul reference, Lakhota. You do realize that the woman in that conflict wasn't some local attending a local town meeting. No, she was a MoveOn.org member who had traveled all the way to Lexington, Kentucky from Washington DC with the sole attention of getting press attention by creating a disturbance.

As for the others? Gee, "Think Progress" labeled what conservatives were yelling at town meetings as "incomprehensible"? What a surprise THAT is! And you backed it up with something from "Media Matters"? That's the clincher right there! We all know that Media Matters is as unbiased a site as they come...right? (eye-roll)

Here's what I find especially comical about you righties: Sources like Think Progress and Media Matters almost always provide source links to substantiate their articles. I never hear you clowns saying anything about those supporting source links. Hence, you have no credibility. BTW, you all don't know shit.

lol, Almost Always.
AND hey them titles they give their articles are some dandy's too..
Got you you ALL RILED up, didn't it. Paul Ryan MOCKS senior citizens at town hall..
But that Hoffa hate speech was just A.O.K.
you people crack me up. Now pull your panties back out and go find another OUTRAGE from thinkprogess you can post over here. we are all waiting on the edge of our seats for it.

Can anyone evaluate this for what it is? You have a speaker giving a speech and a guy barges in yelling. Security (probably police hired by the event) try to get him to stop yelling and screaming. When he resists that they try to escort him out. At some point they determine that he is not welcome at the event likely because of his behavior. Can you imagine going to an event like that and having everyone behave in such a manner? He is arrested (once he is being arrested if he resists and gets thrown to the ground that is because he is not complying).

Take the names/parties out of the scenario and the right thing happened. Why is this such a problem?

Mike

Happens to Ann Coulter all the time.

The left calls it preventing hate speech...by denying people the freedome of speech.

Typical attitude....we are right...and so the ends justify the means.

I don't care who it is, left or right.....there is no room for this kind of overt prevention of discussion.

I would be willing to bet a months pay that if you held a gun to the people's heads that were in that poll and told them they had to tell you the specifics of Ryan's plan or you were going to blow their brains out, that almost ALL of them would throw up their hands and say "Shoot me then because I don't have the faintest idea."

That would be a bit of a trick question, given that Ryan hasn't released (or, perhaps, developed) specifics. His plan is available only in broad strokes. And even those are unpopular.

Turns out most people don't want to see Medicare dismantled and old folks thrown into the private insurance market with a voucher specifically designed not to keep up with health care costs.

I hate when people don't know how the system is supposed to work so they say something rhetorical and think they sound smart. Usually it doesn't work out that way. Don't worry though, you're no different.

I've already given my synopsis of how the policy in Ryan's proposal work and which elements he has yet to work out, if you're too shy to ask. As a bonus, I've even offered my analysis of how the proposal affects current and soon-to-be seniors--the folks who are supposed to be "safe" due to grandfather clauses in the plan.

End MEdicare? Really?

Yes. Ryan in fact would forbid anyone from ever enrolling in Medicare again.

You seem to be leaving out the two old ladies that paid to ask questions and were also removed when Ryan didn't like the questions.

What are you guys defending? I thought Republicans were all about "free speech". They sure scream it enough when their lies are pointed out.

So let me see if I understand how this works...it's OK for liberals to stand up one after another and shout down Paul Ryan as he tries to speak...but if a conservative shouts out "Liar" when Barack Obama is speaking then it's a travesty? That would be your concept of how free speech works?

Ok let's get you a juice box and I need you to sit Indian style on the carpet. Just before nap time I'll explain to you the difference between a town hall meeting and the President addressing Congress.

He deserved to be mocked. He was rude and disruptive, and security did their jobs.

You'd be praising security at an Obama town hall if they did this to a disgruntled voter, and you know it.

Obama would have hand picked the people to attend his meeting so that they would agree with his every word. So there would have never been such outbuests at Mr.O's meetings.

conservatives had no problem w/ this when the townhall mtgs were going on before. The t- partiers, encouraged by their corporate masters, exhibited this disruptive behavior during the entire HC debate.

The glaring difference between the two is that when Democrats like Arlen Spector got yelled at during HIS town meeting it was because he was talking out his ass and the people in the crowd knew it. They were legitimately angry about the way the Democrats were going about getting a bill passed that the majority of Americans didn't want. They wanted explanations about what was in the health care bill and they wanted explanations as to why their politicians were ignoring the voters back home to pass an absolutely awful piece of legislation.

Ryan, on the other hand, is getting shouted down by liberals simply because he has had the courage to propose reforms to entitlement programs that EVERYONE should know have to be fixed or they will overwhelm our ability to pay for them in about a decade.

What you're saying is that Tea Party protesters had legitimate concerns, and therefore, they should have been allowed to scream all they want without being removed; but these liberal protesters don't have legitimate concerns, and therefore, they should be arrested when they protest. In other words, you want things one way for your side, and another way for the other side.

How is it that you get to determine what is or isn't a legitimate concern of a private citizen?

Yes. How dare he question the almighty authority of a United States Congressman? That will teach him!

Weren't you guys all cheering when over-night folk hero Joe Wilson screamed "You Lie" at the President of the United States as he was on the floor of the House?

Or when Dick Cheney told Patrick Leahy to "Go fuck himself..."?

You don't mind rudeness, as long as the appropriate people are rude.

Ryan's a douche.
