Well... actually it's a good thing that provisions of the Patriot Act were extended but it's also somewhat pharisaical, two-faced or if you like hypocritical of Democrats to embrace the provisions after their outrage and nonsencicle fury over the Bush years. Ah.. the outrage reduced to peeping and blank reticence by their faithful frowning followers.

Wire taps... eh.. no problem now... .... ( well.. I think it's funny)

---------------------------------

WASHINGTON | President Barack Obama has signed a one-year extension of several provisions in the nation’s main counterterrorism law, the Patriot Act.

Three sections of the Patriot Act that stay in force will:

•Authorize court-approved roving wiretaps that permit surveillance on multiple phones.

•Allow court-approved seizure of records and property in anti-terrorism operations.

•Permit surveillance against a so-called lone wolf, a non-U.S. citizen engaged in terrorism who may not be part of a recognized terrorist group.

Parts of Patriot Act are extended - KansasCity.com

What parts were extended? As I understand it, some sections of the patriot act did not reduce the privacy of US citizens.

It PROVES they were just being Partisan. It also proves those on this board that are not STILL complaining were partisan hacks.

Gee....RetiredGySgt.... what kind of odds will you give me on a liberal response? At least one that makes sense...mmm

That is NOT the argument presented during the Bush years. All of it was extended except the small parts ruled unconstitutional in court.

See this is why I voted libertarian, the man was very clear what he'd do to the patriot act (shoot it, burn it, spread the ashes to the corners of the Earth, something like that).

Also I didn't live in a swing state so it's not like my vote would've made a difference.

The Patriot Act passed in the Senate 98 to 1 in 2001.

And ever since you retards had been screaming bloody murder. Claiming it violated the Constitution and denied people their rights. Obama gets elected and NOT one whimper of complaint as it is renewed overwhelmingly by the Democrats in Congress. Pretty sure the Democrats renewed it under Bush as well.

So the Democrats passed it overwhelmingly and renewed it overwhelmingly and the revised history is that the Democrats opposed it overwhelmingly.

Got it.

Of course, there is documented evidence of CONSERVATIVES 'pissing and moaning' about it:

Wait, let me get this straight.... YOU CLAIM Democrats have ALWAYS been for the Patriot act? Is that your claim?

Gunny, why of course they have! They were also against the war in Iraq before they were for it. They were against the surge and still think it was a bad idea. They are for closing Gitmo except when they are against it. They don't want reconciliation but they demand reconciliation.
Democrats are the biggest bunch of hypocritical simps to come down the pike in a long time. The public is rapidly growing tired of them and their shenanigans.

“I cannot support the Patriot Act conference report because it does not secure the right balance between our national security and civil liberties.

Left Wingers can no longer be trusted on anything at this point. It looks like Freedom and "Civil Liberties" is just sooo 2008 for them. They have the power back and that's what it was aways about for them. Just like their phony "Anti-War" stance. They really do believe that no one notices their astounding dishonesty & hypocrisy on this and many other issues. Well i think people are noticing. Make 2010 count people.

Of course the Patriot Act is a gross violation of the Constitution and the whole thing should be thrown out. Just goes to show that both parties are only interested in growing the power of the state, and the freedom of the people be damned.

Socialists/Progressives now infest both parties. People are only kidding themselves if they think the Socialists/Progressives only control the Democratic Party. Hopefully this will change in the GOP though. I do see some encouraging signs there but we'll just have to wait and see if true Conservatism makes a full comeback. Make 2010 count people.

It's funny when you talk about "bi-partisanship", it usually only works when the two parties are f-ing the American people. The patriot act was "bi-partisan". The bank bailouts... "bipartisan". Maybe we should just kick both of the "parties" out... "bi-partisanly".
