Chinese, Japanese, and Thai people picked Seoul - the capital of South Korea - as the most wanted tourist destination in the world.
According to a recent poll, 3,200 foreigners - including 800 Chinese, 500 Japanese, and 300 Thai - 16% of all Chinese, 10% of all Japanese, and 19% of all Thai people picked Seoul as their most desired tourist destination over Hawaii, Paris, and Maldives.
As to why they chose Seoul, they said "there are lots of things to enjoy in Seoul", "It's a convenient place to shop around", "Seoul is very clean", and that "historical sites in Seoul are interesting to visit".
Quite a number of them claimed that they are fans of the Hallyu(The Korean wave)- K-Pop, Korean celebrities, Korean TV drama series etc.
Seoul is a city where the past, the present, and the future coexist in one place.
In downtown Seoul, there are Choson dynasty royal palaces - Gyeongbokgung, Deoksugung, Changgyeonggung - where domestic tourists gather all year round.
Also, there are plenty of shopping centers in Namdaemun, Dongdaemun, Myung-dong, Itaewon, where you can shop 24/7 and numerous clubs in Gangnam, Apquing-dong, Chungdam-dong where night life bustles.
