What gives them the right to murder innocent lettuce?
well you see, they are animals, and by PETA, they can do no wrong, even if they mob someone and kill them

sigh...so sad, the poor carrots. That's it, I'm starting PETP(lants) and I'm suing PETA for everything they've got.

And the angel of the lord came unto me, snatching me up from my place of slumber.
And took me on high, and higher still until we moved to the spaces betwixt the air itself.
And he brought me into a vast farmlands of our own midwest.
And as we descended, cries of impending doom rose from the soil.
One thousand, nay a million voices full of fear.
And terror possesed me then.
And I begged,
"Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?"
And the angel said unto me,
"These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots!
You see, Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day and to them it is the holocaust. "
And I sprang from my slumber drenched in sweat like the tears of one million terrified brothers and roared,
"Hear me now, I have seen the light!
They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul!
Damn you!
Let the rabbits wear glasses!
Save our brothers!"
Can I get an amen?
Can I get a hallelujah?
Thank you Jesus.

Life feeds on life.
This is necessary.

My wife and I went to the first showing this morning at our local theater. The film was pretty much what I expected, especially after seeing and hearing so much about it.

It was the most brutal thing I have ever seen. The suffering our Lord endured on our behalf was beyond anything I had ever imagined in my Catholic-trained mind. Even since becoming a Lutheran and reading Luther's Confessions and Catechisms and gaining a greater appreciation and understanding of redemption through His attoning sacrifice...it was still so powerful.

I will admit that I thought Pontius Pilate was given a somewhat lite treatment in this film. Gibson left no doubt as to his complicity in the death of Christ, but he was treated in an almost a sympathetic way. I think this was more an expression of how Gibson sees Pilate in his minds eye, rather than some agenda bleeding through.

The Sanhedrin and Sadducees were portrayed accurately, and their words were almost verbatim from the four Gospels. The Jewish mob that was gathered at the urging of the Temple leaders was at first bloodthirsty, but in the end weeping at the bloodied, broken man carrying his cross up the hill to Golgotha. I did not find even an iota of antisemitic innuendo in this film.

If anyone came away thinking the Jews or the Romans or Caiaphus or Pilate killed Christ -- then they missed the entire theme and point of the film. We...meaning all of us and every man and woman born on this earth since Adam and Eve...we collectively killed Christ by our rebellion against God and our inability to turn from sin.

Christs' death was not a consequence of some action taken or left undone, it was not a decision made by a man. It was ordained from the creation of the universe, before all things. Christ was born to die for our sins...it was His reason for coming into the flesh and walking among us for a short time. By the example of His sinless life, He showed us a better way to live...and by His attoning death on the cross, he gave a way, the only way, to come once again into the presence of the Father and have the eternal life that we were meant for.

It is my solemn prayer that every person see this film.

PETA is all-white.

Funny how white people insist upon the rights of fuzzy rabbits but not their own people. Twisted.

According to what I have read so far, they estimate the movie took in twenty million on its first day. They will have the total figures today.

I cannot see it yet, couldnt even if I had wanted to, tickets are sold out and apparently the theatres have morning shows too.

Does it not make you wonder? What is truly drawing the crowds to this movie? Despite the fact that critques have stated to the public do not go, the public goes in groves.

Those very critiqics must now ponder the thought that their opinions mean nothing to the American Public. Whatever they say means garbage.

I admit I enjoy that. They must be sitting in their home knawing at their raw meat.

As far as Peta? Let me tell you a story about how realistic this group is. A pet store was selling a Parrot. Does anyone know what Parrots are like? There was a sign that read do not stick your finger through the cage! A woman did and the Parrot snapped at her finger. She filed a complaint with Peta which made its way to the Pet Stores headquaters stating animal abuse. Why? The animal was frustrated with its life in a miserable cage and was taking its frustrated life out on the public.

Shall I tell you another equally impressive Peta story? I guess I should save that for another thread.

Back to Mel and his movie - good for 'em all!
