The Paris Climate Accords Are Looking More and More Like Fantasy

By David Wallace-Wells

Excerpt:

Remember Paris? It was not even two years ago that the celebrated climate accords were signed — defining two degrees of global warming as a must-meet target and rallying all the world’s nations to meet it — and the returns are already dispiritingly grim.

This week, the International Energy Agency announced that carbon emissions grew 1.7 percent in 2017, after an ambiguous couple of years optimists hoped represented a leveling off, or peak; instead, we’re climbing again.

Did you bother to read the post?

It make clear that America was able to REDUCE their emission (Biggest decline of any nation) , while NOT being a signatory of the Treaty, while 187 of the 195 nations that signed the Treaty have failed to meet the targeted reductions.

Epic Fail!

At least they're trying. It's too bad whatever emissions reductions we've had are now things of the past thanks to Trump's deregulation. Private industry has to step in where the current leadership won't.

They are free to try, but pointedly bashing America over and over for not joining was immature and stupid.

From the link you didn't read, is this:

"The biggest decline came from the United States, where emissions dropped by 0.5%, or 25 Mt, to 4 810 Mt of CO2, marking the third consecutive year of decline."

America is trying and SUCCEEDING!

Again Americans like me are unhappy with European big ugly mouths over America not signing the Treaty. The attacks were nasty and personal, they so far have failed to reduce their emissions which is why I can say they are HYPOCRITES!

They can kindly SHOVE IT!

You look at it as vindication; I look at it as embarrassment that our country refused to kick in its share toward helping in this very important effort. We are one of the biggest polluters, so why should we be off the hook? A lot of those countries haven't got a pot to piss in, and they are the ones who will turn to dirty coal because it's cheapest. That is what the $$$ from us was for.

Yeah a lot of cities, people and companies gave Trump the middle finger and swore to stick by their promises. I applaud them

Not that many, but since none of the cities, people and companies have the power to sign a treaty, they can do their emission reductions on their own, which Trump doesn't fight against.

So you figure the US should foot the bill for these countries who seem to have no problems to buy military weapons and use the military to subdue any opposition. As if any of these countries would use foreign aid $$ for infrastructure or anything else to benefit the general population ...that`s laughable !
In addition to that if "green energy" would actually work as advertised then emissions in Germany where it`s been pushed the hardest should not have increased.

Sure it is necessary... A bunch of elitists asshats getting together in Paris to stay in the best Hotels, drink the best alcohol, dine on haute cuisine all on the tax payers dime... Who can complain?

Yeah I saw that typical leftist give money away whine. So boring and predictable, a socialist attempt which gets less transparent every year.

America isn't stopping hypocrite Europe, Africa and Asia from reducing their emissions, therefore you can shut up!

The technology and information are readily available to work with to help reduce emissions. Which is largely unnecessary in the first place since it isn't a danger to planet.

I look at it as embarrassment that our country refused to kick in its share toward helping in this very important effort.

Did you miss the part where we did our share? The biggest decline came from the United States.....

Yeah they keep ignoring that part despite not signing that failed Paris Treaty.
