Of course they will site safety issues. I made it out of high school without a phone.

But that was when every school had dozens of pay phones and just about every gas station had a couple as well... or were you in school pre telephones? Hehe, just kidding on that last statement.

Think about it. Can you tell me where the nearest pay phone is to your home right now?

That is not to excuse the behavior of the students, but I can see the value of kids having a phone in easy reach these days. It is, however, a privilege to be earned. I say these kids blew it, and should loose the digital package on their phones until they show they are capable of maintaining a certain amount of dignity.

Mine too.

Cell phones should be allowed, but not during instruction time. If parents want to contact their kids they can leave a frigging message either via text message or voice mail. Get caught using it in class and lose it for the day or until the parent comes to pick it up.

Back when I was in school, had anybody been caught masturbating at school, he would have been bullied, not the other way around.

Why are cell phones allowed in classes in the first place?

There is no reason for a kid to have a cell phone in class... NONE AT ALL!

When my eldest spawn turned 16, I bought her a cell phone. My purpose was so that I could track her down whenever I wanted to since she was driving. AND so that she could get in touch with me if she had an accident. The school rules said no cell phones in class, if caught, they would be confiscated. Again, she was 16, I told her that if her cell phone was confiscated, she would not be allowed to drive, since we had no way to get in touch with each other. I don't know if she ever broke the rule, all I know is that she never got caught.
Oh, and to get a confiscated phone back required a parent to come to the school. My spawn knew that I wouldn't make it to the school until the next PTSA meeting.
Maybe girls are easier than boys.

At the Albertson's by my house. And they don't need to take their phones to school. They have phones there.

When I parked in front the fire hydrant at school, and my dad drove by the school and noticed this.. He had no problem calling the office and delivering the message.
When I went out with my friends, I had no problem calling my parents and checking in.
This crap about allowing your children to have cell phones at school is just that crap. It's like letting your kid spend all it's time on the computer or video games.
I saw a kid the other day who was four and he was obese. That is horrible. I have to give my son cookies so he doesn't look like I am starving him. And he has never played a video game in his life.
I let him play a few games on the Nickjr site, but that is it. If its warm, he is outside. Well even if it isn't that warm he is outside.

This is messed up. This pornography plague is way too pervasive. As parents, we need to restore values to our children and we need to make them unafraid to stand up to bullies.
