Ontario, Canada eh?
This remarkable true story about a framed French man being sent to the French Guiana for a crime he didn't commit. Then over the course of 14 years, tries to escape many times.

The movie gives the book a pretty good treatment. Stays within 80% of the actual story. Steve McQueen gives one of his best performances as Papillon, it was easily his most physically and emotionally demanding movie role. The Jerry Goldsmith score is just right for the movie, giving it a right feel of French despair, turmoil, and trumiph. The movie also shows how the brutal prision system in Guiana can break a man, and the movie shows how slow prision life is. It also shows how men turn to homosexuality if they get lonely (not a huge part of movie, just a footnote).

All in all, a very good movie indeed.
