Jonathan Chait in that article from New York magazine explained that Obama spoke in a soft Kansas dialect that allowed him to elude the white's racist scrutiny. When he made his Roanoke comments however, they were made with the black street organizers intonations, therefore arousing the white's ire and apprehension concerning the typical black politician's demands for reparations.
What he's up to is far worse than simple reparations. It amounts to an overturning, dismantling, and destruction of all of America's societal structures and customs that have helped make this country great.

The Obama administration has launched the first steps of an ambitious plan to dramatically improve academic achievement among African-American students from the “cradle to career.”

President Obama signed an executive order last week, which established the first ever White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African-Americans.

Left-wing politicians and racial-grievance profiteers across America are now fanning the flames of racial discord, demanding that George Zimmerman endure a politically correct show trial at the federal level despite his acquittal.

Members of the professional Left can barely conceal their glee that Zimmerman was found not guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin. This means they get to retain Zimmerman as a villain they can use to foment racial hatred, cause future civil disturbances, raise money through direct mail solicitations, and get out the vote for race-baiting Democrats.

There's no such thing as pandering to the black voter. There aren't that many blacks and most of them don't vote. Besides, the Dems have figured out how to pay off ballot workers to stuff the ballot boxes in the inner city. 90 percent turnouts my ass. They didn't even care when Barry came to their town to campaign.

The pandering is to the rest of the lunatic fringe in the Democratic party.
