see this deniers?:

Scientists rush to save manta rays, the 'pandas of the ocean'
“Globally we don’t know how many manta rays there are,” said Guy Stevens, director of the U.K.-based Manta Trust, whose research is largely based around manta populations in the Maldives.
But -- again, like the panda -- scientists think it’s a small population.

overfishing deniers. What say you on the topic of overfishing?

It sounds like the big threat is not overfishing for mantas but the fact that they have apparently been ascribed some magical healing property by wacky asian witch doctors. It is unfortunate if they get caught in nets not intended for them and maybe some device like the exits for turtles could be designed.

Unfortunately, when magical properties are ascribed to some bodypart of an animal no matter how idiotic those powers may be, the species is generally hunted till they are gone or so rare that poaching is more expensive than the return to be had.

Dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago yet the Earth still rotates, the Sun still shines.

How is that?

The mantas killed Steve Irwin. They should have known better. He was just trying to get close enough to understand them so his research could help them when they needed an intervention.

Off topic but on that goofy sock puppet thread I had asked about your avatar. Is it yours? If so is it a kit or a restoration...and what power plant. The thread got closed so it wasn't possible to answer.
