The person hits the nail on the head with the analysis of Sarah Palin and her popularity. Palin understands that Obama has wrecked this country with his out of control democratic partisan spending of more money than what the nation is taking in in his first year as Usurper. We need someone with experienced business sense with running one and and one who already has been successful being a executor to helm America's highest office and that woman is Sarah Palin. There is a reason Palin is popular.

Palin speaks her mind -- that makes her popular

Re: Pulled down by Palin, Feb. 16.

I was confused by columnist Janet Bagnall's rant about Sarah Palin. She states that women who want to enter politics are encouraged to get a university degree, get involved in the community, work hard and be prepared to make sacrifices.

In the next sentence, she asks why Palin is the most popular woman in political life on the continent -- as if Palin hasn't done anything on the to-do list. Palin has done it all. She is university educated, started her political career with the local PTA, and has executive experience at both the municipal and state level. She has certainly made sacrifices -- the greatest being the shameless attacks on her family by the liberal, left-wing media. But, of course, Alaska is just a "remote, thinly populated state" (the largest in the union) and the University of Idaho is not an Ivy League college so in Bagnall's world these probably don't count for much. (That is not to say that Bagnall is an elitist.)

I personally do not find Palin's family values "puzzling." I am sure her values are the same as those of Bagnall's social liberals. But, anyone with children knows that things don't always go as planned. Palin's daughter has acknowledged that she made a mistake by having sex before marriage and has taken responsibility for her actions by giving birth to her son. Should Palin not continue to promote family values because of this? And just for clarification, is the social liberals value of not having sex before marriage the same as abstinence?

I agree with Bagnall that Palin may be "the candidate of the aggrieved" -- which today is the majority of U.S. citizens. They are tired of the partisanship and ideology that has resulted in gridlock in their government. The hope and change that they were promised has turned into more of the same old thing. The citizens are angry at a government that is not listening to them because it thinks it knows what is best.

This is not the American way. Palin knows this and is not afraid to say so. And that is one of the reasons why she is so popular.
