Palin leaves town $19 million in debt

oh and neither will her father!
Also Navy,
You are voting for the issues you believe in such as I am sure the war in Irag and I commend that. I am voting for the issues I believe in! Palin wants a constitutional amendment making gay marriage illegal(Anchorage Daily News), I am not gay myself but I am tired of our government telling people how to live their lives. I am Pro CHoice, Pro Stem Cell research. I am for paying more taxes. And because of this war and Bush's spending tactics Alzheimer's research as been cut back by 10 million dollars when baby boomers are coming into age or already at the age where they will develope this disease. This is what I voting for and as for the war, it isn't Obama just want to leave the middle east and admit deafeat. So I maybe a socialist as some might say. There is just to many people in this country who need health care and government services, people who have worked all their lives and maybe have come into hard times. I also going back to college and as a single mother who works by the way and pays taxes I need some help to do that or maybe you can get my child's father to pay child support!
These are what I want and you may want something different, that is your choice!

Well my best friend actually knows her personally, she lived next door to Palin's in laws in Wassila and her father works with Palin's husband in BP and she still will not vote for her. She may not be as evil as us liberals say she is but I like you have said before I do not believe in what she believes in and I just don't want to take the chance she would become president. For I don't believe in drilling the Artic, it is a temporary fix to a much larger problem. I am for envirnment and she is not. And as the conviction's of obama and mccain, I don't care if they swing it is just what they do with it. Clinton was a corrupt president but look how good our economy was, he created 23 million jobs to George W's 4 million. I just don't want four more years of us having to borrow money from CHina. If you can say with out a doubt McCain will change what George Bush has done then I might think twice. But I don't think you can!

Want me to say it..

JOHN McCAIN will do a MUCH BETTER job as president than George Bush and and even better job than Barack Obama ever could. As for drilling in the Artic, well too late we already do. If your talking about ANWR then your not talking about drilling in the whole thing anyway. Have you ever even seen where they are talking about? It's not the picture of birds chirping and beautiful tree's and moose and polar bear running around. I know that drilling there won't fix everything, but then again, it sure is a start down a road to our OWN energy future rather than this pie in the sky, we all will be driving fuel cell cars and have solar homes and wind powering it. While thats a noble and absolutly wonderful goal it is still a goal and I believe we need to have every option available to get there. On the 4 million jobs thing if your making reference to the NYT op-ed piece there is a huge glaring omission there which is par for the course for the NYT. Don't you think the jobs small business creates are jobs too? I do?

When Palin took over Wasilla, the town had no long-term debt. By the time she was done, debt service had increased by 69 percent, the town had close to $19 million in long-term debt, making the debt around $3000 per capita. And the Mccain campaign is asking us - seriously - to consider her a fiscal conservative.

She is a Bush-Cheney fiscal conservative: low taxes, unprecedented new spending, utter incompetence, endemic cronyism and massive debt.

Oh COME ON. Do you people ever look beyond some partisan site that is practically dripping wet with the foaming-at-the-mouth anti-Palin crap and operating as part of the smear campaign by putting out ONLY what they want you to know.

Palin Rumors | Explorations Its Number 6, ok?

While Palin was mayor, a grassroots effort was made to build a sports center. Citizens submitted a nomination application to have a new sports center built and eventually it made its way to the ballot where it was approved by the citizens of Wasilla. It was not started by Palin but who did support it. The people of Wasilla voted in favor of a sales tax increase and a $14.7 million city bond in order to pay for the construction of that sports complex which they wanted built in their city. Got that part?

The people of Wasilla voted in favor of their own city taking on the debt in order to build a sports center -and in favor of increasing their OWN sales tax rate in order to pay for it. So of course until that debt for the construction of that center is fully retired, Wasilla is in debt. Just like if you take out a mortgage for a new house -until that loan is fully paid off, you are actually in debt too.

A lawsuit was filed against the city of Wasilla over who owned the land -which Wasilla eventually won and construction didn't start until after Palin was no longer mayor.

The city will retire that debt ahead of schedule because they are in such good financial shape. End in sight on lawsuit over sports center land: Mat-Su | adn.com

This is the kind of thing EVERY city in this country does when making improvements or additions to their infrastructure. So much for this hooey.

Isn't ANWR in the artic sorry I didn't say ANWR and yes I know we already drill in Artic as I said before my best friends dad works for BP. ANWR which also stands for Artical National Wildlife Refuge! And I believe leaving an envirnment our children can live in and where they want to drill is a habitat for polar which is why Palin sued to have Polar Bears removed from the endangered species list. And as for 4 million jobs just look at our country economy compared to ten years ago. Plus if we would have listened to Carter 30 years ago we have never been in this mess!Where do you think the Republican and democrats I have to admit keep getting their ideas!

So Palin raised taxes and went into debt to build a sports center. Then she went ahead with improvements before the city had clear title, thus costing the city an extra $1.3 million dollars because of her mistake.

Then why did it take so long for him to get in office. He is 72 years old, my god talk about a late bloomer. All the sudden this guy is the answer but he has been around since the first social security number was given out. I dont believe it. If he was so good then he would have been president many years ago. He is leftover's.

Thats how you rationalize it? Blame it on the voters of the town? Isn't she supposed to know this is bad then and not even put it up for a vote if she's ready to be their leader?

You Repub's just keep proving our point, and by the way, Pre- George Bush Andrew Sullivan was a Republican and is now an Independent so please don't scream that "Liberal media bias" BS
he's just mad over gay marriage

he's just mad over gay marriage
who?
i couldnt care less if gays get married
my stance on that issues is we need to get the government completely out of the marrige bussiness, its a religious cermony and the first amendment says that the government cant regulate religion

It's not a religious ceremony. The authority to perform a marriage is conferred by the STATE.

Remember "by the power vested in me by the state of _____________"...

now, no one should or could force a church to marry anyone it doesn't want to... but churches (and their acolytes) sure can't tell the state to discriminate.

And that's really what the argument boils down to.

This why we have seperation between church and state which some people like to forget!( George W)

So even you think he is going to be president now js? I'm glad to see your comming around to reason. j/k Actually McCain did run for president in 2000 and because someone does not win the nomination that makes them by default not able to be president? By that logic then Barack Obama should not be a US Senator then. The fact is office holders win and lose elections and we vote for a president every 4 years. On the age thing, so I guess Joe is a little ancient then too yes? So why are you supporting that ticket then if age is an issue for you? I was responding to jillians question and I gave her a straight answer on the McCain question as to , if I thought he would be a better president than George Bush.

talk about someone completely missing the point
MARRIAGE is a sacrament of the church, and the state has URSURPED that function
all the state should be doing is civil unions AKA contracts

First of all I wouldnt be surprised if Mccain was elected. he wont get my vote but I think you would have to be an idiot to think this wont be a battle. I think Obama supporters will flop at the last minute when they get in the booth. As for age, I dont have a problem with it, older folks have alot of wisdom and can teach us many things we havent experienced but that wasnt my point. My point was why did it take so long for him to become sexy enough to be the hands down candidate for the Republicans. he lost to George Bush who was never looked at as the smartest guy in the world and had past drug and alcohol problems and the Republicans still liked him more than Mccain. That says something doesnt it?

McCain is 72 years old, has had cancer 5 times, and is on 5 different medications.

He may not make it to November.

How about this, spambot...

Estimates of the budget surplus by early next year range from $5 billion to $9 billion, a huge amount in a state of 670,000 people. Spending it -- or saving it for a day when oil is not so plentiful or expensive -- is one of the central policy issues confronting the administration of Palin, the running mate of Republican presidential nominee John McCain.Palin gives and saves amid big Alaska surplus - Los Angeles Times

And what did she do with that plane she had to sale. maybe saling it to one for one of her supporters taking a 600,000 dollar loss on it. And as for her surplus of course their is a surplus in alaska just like UAI doesn't have to have a welfare system because of their oil production.

And what about is chances of developing dementia in the white house!

Recognizing the Signs of Dementia - Associated Content

My concern isn't him developing dementia but the amount of stress.

Look at every single Presidental photo since say JFK for example. Compare when they entered office and when they left office.

Most of them looked like they aged 10-20 years in 4-8 years.

This is the most stressful job in the world and will make an impact on someone.

John McCain is already 72, and I doubt if he does get elected that he will be running for a reelection in 2012 if he's still alive. Hence picking Sarah Palin as his successor to run for office in 2012.

Kirk....post a million different pieces of spam a day, is too young to be online and is on 500 different pyschotropic medications.
