RAMALLAH, West Bank — President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday announced a series of changes to Palestinian election laws aimed at bolstering his Fatah Party, the latest attempt by the Palestinian leader to marginalize Hamas since it seized control of the Gaza Strip in June.

What the Associated Press failed to mention is that the executive branch has no authority to make or alter the law. That is the function of the PLC. (parliament)

There is that "seized control" report again. It seems bizarre to me that an elected government would seize control.

Abbas' law welcomed
Abbas’ new government has been welcomed in the West and by Israel.

Another thing that the Associated Press failed to report is that neither the new prime minister nor any of the new cabinet have been approved by the PLC as the constitution requires.

This government is illegal.
