The Hamas authorities in the Gaza Strip have confirmed that two Palestinian men have been executed for collaborating with Israel.

BBC News - 'Palestinian collaborators' executed by Hamas

Snip.

The Islamist movement did not say how the executions were carried out, but one Palestinian rights group said they had been killed by firing squad.

The mens' bodies were taken to Shifa hospital in Gaza City overnight.

This is the first time Hamas has implemented the death penalty since it took power in Gaza in June 2007.

Hamas Interior Minister Fathi Hammad said last month that the authorities intended to implement the death penalty for people found guilty of working with Israel.

The only punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is that they should be executed, or crucified, or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides, or they should be imprisoned. This shall be a disgrace for them in this world, and in the Hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement - 5:33

Ouch, that must hurt!

Islam, the religion of peace.

LOL.

What would Israel have done if they caught Israeli citizens collaborating with Hamas?

In Israel, they honor the concept of due process. Right to an attorney. Appeals process. Supreme Court.

Everything that is non-existent in the Arab Muslim worlds of Medieval justice.

Execution of traitors and collaborators is not exactly an uncommon event during (and after) wars.

I'm glad you asked that.

In Israel, capital punishment is illegal in almost all circumstances. Israel inherited the British Mandate of Palestine code of law, which included death penalty for several offenses, but in 1954 Israel abolished this penalty with the exceptions of conviction for genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, crimes against the Jewish people, and treason in wartime [1]. Only one person has been civilly executed in the history of the State of Israel - Adolf Eichmann, who was hanged in 1962 after he was convicted in 1961 of participation in Nazi war crimes relating to the Holocaust. The only other execution to take place in Israel was that of Meir Tobianski, an Israeli soldier in the 1948 Arab-Israeli war who was falsely accused of treason and executed by firing squad after being court martialed and found guilty. Others have been sentenced to death but won appeals to overturn the sentence.
It is generally accepted that one of the reasons for Israel's rare use of the death penalty is Jewish religious law. Biblical law explicitly mandates the death penalty for 36 offenses, from murder and adultery to idolatry and desecration of the Sabbath. Still, Jewish scholars since the beginning of the common era have developed such restrictive rules to prevent execution of the innocent that the death penalty has become de facto illegal. Most modern Jewish religious leaders and scholars believe that the death penalty should remain unused.[citation needed]
"It is better and more satisfactory to acquit a thousand guilty persons than to put a single innocent one to death."[2] Moses Maimonides argued that executing a defendant on anything less than absolute certainty would lead to a slippery slope of decreasing burdens of proof, until we would be convicting merely "according to the judge's caprice." His concern was maintaining popular respect for law, and he saw errors of commission as much more threatening than errors of omission.[3]

And interestingly, there was an op-ed, dated today asking if maybe it isn't time for Israel to have a death penalty for terrorists.

collaborators are complicit in murder. They are also a major problem in Palestine. So, I don't see this as being any different than anyplace else. We would do the same thing here in the US.

Israel has reported that their spy network has been decimated.

"Alleged" collaborators. Alleged collaborators denied due process and summarily executed.

Collaborators are often those who merely speak with Jews or are just accused of such a "crime"

For example, this 15 year-old Palestinian child was murdered for collaborating with Jews...

Such barbarism is unacceptable in modern society.

You just made this up, as you are prone to do.

Israel's "spy network" is the single biggest factor in the economic renaissance unfolding in the West Bank, where Israel's "spy network" has greatly reduced Arab crime permitting normal society to flourish.

The day to day violence against Palestinians by Israel, and its puppet "Palestinian" government, is considerably higher in the Wast Bank than in Gaza.

Fatah and Israeli security work together to arrest Pallie criminals who prevent normal society from flourishing.

Since the Fatah-Israeli partnership, living conditions in the West Bank have transformed dramatically.

Your insight into Middle East affairs is embarrassingly deficient, so, why do you even waste bandwidth with your ignorance?

I'm afraid you're PWNED. The Wall Street Journal fact-checks everything it publishes and the integrity of the Journal is unimpeachable.

You're done.

Palestinian courts officials on Sunday said a Palestinian woman suspected of spying for Israel may be sentenced to death.

The officials said the 22-year-old woman worked as a collaborator after obtaining a divorce from her husband, who forced her to work as a prostitute, making her a social outcast in Palestinian society.

Palestinian military judge Abdul Karim al-Masri said the woman confessed to passing low-level information and refused a lawyer. "She didn't hurt anybody except herself," he said.

Honestly, I try my best to give the benifit of the doubt to the Arab position, but things like this make me believe that Israel is a small and flickering light in the midst of dark and scary nations.

Hamas Execution of Fatah Members in Gaza - Road90

GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Ahmed Bahr, the first deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council (PLC), said Friday that the execution of collaborators who were sentenced to death lately was fully consistent with the Palestinian law and constitution.

In a statement, Dr. Bahr explained that all legal procedures and standards followed against those who found guilty of spying for Israel, whether with regard to investigation, trial and execution, were enforced according to law and constitution.

In the same context, the Palestinian Ahrar Movement stated that the death sentences which were enforced Thursday morning in Gaza against two spies involved in the assassination of many resistance leaders during the Aqsa intifada were a must for deterring everyone tempted to collaborate with the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.

The Movement added that this step would constitute a bulwark for the resistance and would extinguish the fire of pain and fury in the hearts of the families whose sons and daughters were killed because of those collaborators.

Bahr: The execution of spies fully agrees with the Palestinian law
