Pale Rider

Good Shane knockoff

Good cast without Brandon deWild constantly asking stupid questions

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly beats them all.

Unless you consider that every western was "based on Shane" it wasn't even close. Shane was a gunfighter trying to go straight on a hardscrabble farm. The Pale Rider character "Preacher" was a kind of mystical reincarnation based (loosely) on a Biblical prediction. Actually Pale Rider had almost the same plot as "High Plains Drifter".

Which had almost the same plot as "Shane". Same plot, different staging.

All Westerns were based on the same plot. High Noon, The Mag 7, most of Duke Wayne's stuff including the laughable similar plots of the Dean Martin drunk sheriff and the Robert Mitchum drunk sheriff. there is no reason to lump the quasi mystical Pale Rider with the Shane character (Alan Ladd was so short that they had to pose him on a box for some scenes) unless you want to.

Yea but Shane could have banged that guys wife and preacher did Bang that guys wife.

....Outlaw Josey Wales is kind of herky jerky--here-there-every where--also, too much idiotic bull's eye hits while on a horse that is jumping and running
....Clint Eastwood is like others--not really an actor, but a ''line sayer'' like Arnold S, Patrick Swayze, etc
