This afternoon some friends and I went swimming in the Pacific near Santa Barbara. We played splash football in the surf. Later we dug a small pit in the sand and built a fire. Then we roasted shrimp and pineapple over the fire. California can be perfect. What good luck it is to live here. Thank you, America.

Spent 2 weeks in Berkeley this past summer-- saw a cloud one day and all the locals thought the world was ending. Paradise on earth.
