Black workers, those few who are interested in making it on merit, are caught in an affirmative action trap. It is assumed that they are poor performers who made it through on one or other affirmative action program. It was once said that a black person had to be twice as good as a white person to advance. Unfortunately today a black person not only has to be twice as good as a white person, but has to be good enough and fight hard enough to rise above the affirmative action swamp. And, they have to do this in an environment where the employer isn't at all sure that the black employee won't find a reason to sue them and take a short cut to retirement.

You are the manager. You have two candidates for a waiter position, one white one black. Waiters are notoriously unreliable anyway. If the guy craps out you'll have to fire him.

Which one do you hire?

As a manager you're trying to hire someone who after being trained actually stays and does the job for as long a period of time as possible. Hiring someone who has a graduate degree will most likely result in wasting your time training someone who will only stay at the job you've given them until something in their field opens up at which time they are gone with no notice. I'm not looking for someone who's overqualified who works for me for a couple months and then leaves...I'm looking for someone who stays with me for YEARS so I don't have to spend more money to retrain another employee.

Actually the study ASSUMES it's because of "Looking Black". As I pointed out, it's entirely possible and even PROBABLE that the discrimination described occurred because of proper English fluency, or lack thereof.

No they're not racists, they only become racist when you claim you don't believe in the philosophy of alleged "social justice" then shit gets hostile.

I'm a church going Catholic but I don't believe in socialism, I believe in charity and individuals wealth to society, but not government mandated socialism.. Many black churches (both baptist and catholic) advocate for government to intervene and any individual (especially a white individual) who opposes that concept is a racist..

I used to be a server at a steakhouse where a typical prime cut would run you around $90.00.

It is still not a job that demands much intellect - especially today. Now servers just have to press buttons on an Ipad.. It was far more difficult when I was a server, we used to use a pen and pad..
