Over 30 New Seattle Restaurants Open since $15 Minimum Wage!

Is that suppose to be a lot or something?
More than 30 New Seattle Restaurants Open Since $15 Minimum Wage Became Law!

In-spite of relentless Republican Lies claiming the opposite.
You're an idiot. No Republican said that and it says nothing. Many restaurants can afford it because their customers can afford it. The point was that not all will be able to afford the increase. Why is that so hard?

no kidding, they dig out ONE person who evidently isn't being hurt by it at this time. Lets hear from her in a year and see if she still think it's : the right thing to do. who cares about Seattle anyway, their government has become as Fascist as California's. I think they should force $20 an hour on the rest of business because you know: it's the RIGHT thing to do.

Seattle & San Francisco unemployment rate is falling Faster & Lower with Higher $15 Minimum Wage! They are now at 3% UE rate!!!

So you are telling me Obama has FINALLY decided to include the 96+ MILLION Americans who are no longer in the job Market (or how many there are in Seattle /San Fran) in coming up with the correct unemployment percentage?

OF COURSE NOT! Obama REFUSES to include this number, which is the ONLY way he can come up with the B$ unemployment numbers he is touting. Black unemployment is DOUBLT that of whites now. 96+ million Americans are out of work, and Obama thinks he can come up with an accurate unemployment rate without taking this number of Americans out of work into consideration! LOL! NOT!

Historically restaurants have proven to be poor start ups. Let's see how many are in business six months from now

Yup and lets see how many go with the IPad to order your meal. No waitress.

Hope it works out for em but I have my doubts.

Yeah, places like Mc'Donalds has already declared they will be replacing people with kiosks. Not to worry...after these out-of-work people pass the point of where they can not receive unemployment Obama will no longer count them as part of his Unemployment rate calculation, and all will be good again.

Our Minimum Wage is pitiful. We should be ashamed of how we treat our fellow Americans. Canada does just fine with an $11 Minimum Wage. It hasn't collapsed. Surely the wealthiest and most prosperous nation on earth can do better. Can't it?

McDonalds has been sinking for years. And it has nothing to do with paying workers. It's getting its ass kicked by numerous better-managed fast food restaurants. Automation won't save it. The days of McDonalds dominance are over. Other fast food restaurants have caught up and surpassed it. It is what it is.

Job openings hit record high in July!!!

Job openings surged to a record high in July signaling a tighter labor market that's expected to push up wage growth.

Employers advertised 5.8 million jobs, up from 5.3 million in June and the highest on record according to the Labor Department. The previous high was 5.4 million in May.

Unemployment 5.1% Sept 2015

Payroll employment increased by 173,000 over the past 14 years this month always gets revised up by 75K, so the real number is up 247,000

A few days ago the Federal Reserve Beige Book said The overall Labor supply continues to be "very tight", with contacts noting shortages of workers. Pay rates have grown by 3 percent to 20 percent, with the sharper increases reflecting a greater supply-demand gap.

Pay is rising!!! Employment rates have been under reported & subsequently revised up!

"In August, average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm
payrolls rose by 8 cents to $25.09, following a 6-cent gain in July. Hourly
earnings have risen by 2.2 percent over the year. Average hourly earnings
of private-sector production and nonsupervisory employees increased by 5
cents to $21.07 in August.

The change in total nonfarm payroll employment for June was revised from
+231,000 to +245,000, and the change for July was revised from +215,000 to
+245,000. With these revisions, employment gains in June and July combined
were 44,000 more than previously reported. Over the past 3 months, job
gains have averaged 221,000 per month."

putting aside our minimum wage. we might have been the wealthiest and most prosperous at one time. But I'm not sure we can say that anymore.

$11 CAD = $8.33 USD

Seeing as someone making $8.33 USD/hr is extremely rare, what point are you trying to make?

XE: (CAD/USD) Canadian Dollar to US Dollar Rate

Minimum Wage was NEVER designed or intended to be enough money to support a FAMILY! It was intended to be a 'transitional' job, for kids during the summer, kids working their way through college, etc.

Americans have been brainwashed into thinking minimum wage jobs are supposed to provide enough income to support a FAMILY and meant to be a distraction from the fact that 'all' of our FULL TIME jobs that are meant to provide enough income to support a family have either gone overseas or are up for competition between out-of-work Americans and some illegals coming in.

The problem is NOT that the minimum wage is not high enough. The problem is that there aren't enough full time jobs that provide wages capable of supporting families. Throw in disastrous legislation like the ACA whose mandate caused businesses to change a lot of full-time positions to part-time positions to allow them to avoid the ACA mandate, and you have a problem! Several reports say full-time positions are at a nearly all-time low in this country while welfare, Food Stamps, etc are near all time highs!

Again, the fact that there aren't enough full-time JOBS is the problem not the fact that we aren't paying kids who can't even get the orders right and make sure my food is in the bag enough money!

And getting its arse kicked, Mickey Dees wants to CUT expenses as much as possible while it regroups. Rather than start paying its employees $15 an hour they will let those personnel go and install kiosks that do NOT require $15 an hour, health care, etc...

Actually, in some provinces it's higher. But regardless, Canada hasn't collapsed. We're supposedly the wealthiest and most prosperous nation on earth. We can treat our fellow Americans better.

McDonalds raised prices 65% while holding wages low & increasing technology. Prices only fall when workers are paid enough to get off the government dole. Republicans plan to have government support workers instead of employers is a total inflationary failure.

McDonalds isn't sinking because of paying workers. It's paid its workers shite wages for decades. It's sinking because other fast food restaurants are kicking its ass.

There's nothing more sleazy and despicable than a Multi-Billion Dollar Corporation blaming lowly struggling workers for its own gross mismanagement. It's a shameful cowardly move.

This is what the Republican tax cuts for the rich have done. Idiots. Destroyed the middle class and is making a under class of 80% of this country.

That's part of it. Inflation is caused by 96% of all Republican officials signing pledge to drown government in a bathtub! The US Dollar is a piece of paper that has value only because "it's backed by the full faith & credit of government" Republicans always increase spending & cut taxes to destroy government & the US Dollar. They add as many workers onto the government dole to increase spending & cut taxes on companies who send jobs out of country. This increases US deficits, foreign consumption & inflation.
