This article is a good read, no matter what opinion you hold on the issue. In my travels around the internet I have seen a few of the usernames referenced in this article.
I post this here to watch he discussion, free speech issue? Invasion of privacy issues?
Who here belongs to the site and can offer an "insiders" view?

Unmasking Reddit's Violentacrez, The Biggest Troll on the Web
from the article;
"Judging from his internet footprint, Brutsch, 49, has a lot to sweat over. If you are capable of being offended, Brutsch has almost certainly done something that would offend you, then did his best to rub your face in it. His speciality is distributing images of scantily-clad underage girls, but as Violentacrez he also issued an unending fountain of racism, porn, gore, misogyny, incest, and exotic abominations yet unnamed, all on the sprawling online community Reddit. At the time I called Brutsch, his latest project was moderating a new section of Reddit where users posted covert photos they had taken of women in public, usually close-ups of their asses or breasts, for a voyeuristic sexual thrill. It was called "Creepshots." Now Brutsch was the one feeling exposed and it didn't suit him very well."

read more at the link, it is quite a good article.

Now for the start of the discussion,
I'll comment first;
I played a game for awhile where there were players using Keysersosa and Violentacrez as well as son of Violentacrez. My character had a female icon, and all three of those users, as well as a few more left comments on my wall that were anything but decent. That's the big reason I don't play that game any longer. The game was enjoyable, yet a few players such as the ones I mentioned caused several of us to stop playing the game. The way I see it, their comments may be claimed as free speech, but it infringed on my right to a pursuit of happiness.

You reap what you sow. Sooner or later all the trolls get figured out if they become famous enough.

The only way forward for the wild wild west of the internet, is to try and civilize it through good and proper regulatory actions, in which seeks to stop all of the abuse that certain people freely use it for, especially terrorist activities and such..

I think privacy on the web, should only be reserved for those who earn their right to privacy upon the web, but for those who abuse and do bad things on the web to others, then they should not remain private on the web for even a nano second, and therefore should be exposed for their abusive ways immediately to law enforcement, and then removed from the web/banned from it. If someone is exposed for abuse and reported, yet their abuse was minor in offense, then they should be forced to use their real name if want to continue on the web from that point forward. Everything on this web and in this nation should be incentive based/earned. Period!

You don't earn a right. You earn a privilege.
Either is earned no matter... Do you think that if my kin folk gave me the right (legally) to their stuff if they were to die as found within their will, that I should be denide that legal right to their stuff by another, otherwise if they think that my kin were dilerious when granted me the legal right to their stuff in that will in which they figured that I had earned as a good person when they did this ? People do contest will's ya know, and they do it on the assumption or grounds that a person did not deserve the legal rights in which they were granted to anything that they were given in that will when it was therefore given to them.

A privilege is something less impactful, and is attached to a right when it is given to us alot of times, and needs not the law to be involved most times, as it was usually given to a person by another as a privilege to be found within their rights as citizens to do that which they are then found privy to do by another, but if that person goes out and abuses that privilege, and this when come in contact with the law, their right may be revolked by the law. Otherwise if I were to give you the privilege to drive my car to the store, yet you didnot have a driver liscense, by right the state would then deny you the right to drive that car to the store, because you have not earned the right by doing what everyone else has to do, and that is by going to the highway department and taking the test, thus earning your right to drive that car in which I have given you the privilege to drive to the store. One is earned in trust, and the other is earned by passing a test.

I don't like the idea of forcing people to use their real names, because there are quite a few people with the same name. Sometimes they live in the same city as a criminal with the same name.

How Many of Me

I was following a Reddit thread a few months ago called "First World Problems". Good stuff!

No one 'earns' a right... the clue is in the word 'right'. Moron.

Your attack seems to suggest that you have something to hide maybe, or why would you not agree to somehow want to end abuse upon the web if it is at all possible? The i-net seems to harbor many devils that are comfortable to freely do what they want to do on this thing, even if it causes serious problems for others and the system, and then you have the more serious problem of those who are ignorant enough in life to take up for the bad upon this net.. Go figure!
