Closest Alien World to UsCredit: NASA, ESA, G.F. Benedict (University of Texas, Austin) Epsilon Eridani b orbits an orange Sun-like star only 10.5 light years away from Earth. It is so close to us telescopes might soon be able to photograph it. It orbits too far away from its star to support liquid water or life as we know it, but scientists predict there are other stars in the system that might be good candidates for alien life.

The new WISE satellite and the new James Webb Space Telescope will reveal and allow us to see, more and more exoplanets as well as exo-solar bodies that are illusive as of this time.

What is it with these guys? Do they want to generate funding by pretending they discovered life on other planets? What does the word "alien" mean to NASA and what does the word "alien" mean to pop-culture? Clearly NASA is trying to promote (ho-hum) interest in a planet by pretending that it supports life. The closest alien world is the moon.

It s hard to fathom this reply. Are you suggesting that we do not make any effort as a country or a planet to fund "getting a better look" into the sky?

I don't want to assume why you would post something so willfully ignorant so please explain your motivation.

There are some with minds so calloused, souls so dead, that they cannot comprehend the wonder of the life that surrounds them, and connot concieve that the universe that gave birth to life on this small world may have spawned life on a world where the conditions are truly differant. Life not as we understand it. And what a wonder it would be to study such life.

Dumb. We have been to the moon, and therefore it is no longer alien. It refers to out of Solar system or unknown orbiting body. Hope that is he helpful.
