Oregon sheriff: 'Unconstitutional' gun control laws won't be enforced

(CNN) -- An Oregon sheriff says he will not enforce any federal regulation that President Barack Obama lays out in his package of gun control proposals Wednesday.

Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller joins several other public officials across the nation who have decided to square off with the White House even before it outlines what its plans are for expanded measures.

Mueller sent a letter to Vice President Joe Biden this week saying he won't enforce any federal regulation "offending the constitutional rights of my citizens." He won't permit federal officers to come to his county to enforce such laws either, he said.

Mueller's defiant stand exploded into a groundswell of support. His letter -- posted on the department's Facebook page -- earned more than 59,000 likes and shares -- and was growing by the minute.

Over the weekend, Sheriff Denny Peyman of Jackson County, Kentucky, said that he too would disobey any directive from the administration. He told residents in a town hall meeting that the sheriff has more power than the federal government.

"They need to go back and study that. We are a commonwealth. I can ask federal people to leave, they have to leave. I can ask state people to leave, they have to leave," he said.

The difference is that here he is SUPPORTING the rights of the people in his county. During the Jim Crow period, brought on by Plessey V. Fergueson, the local authorities were the ones being unconstitutional, and it took another court decsion to remedy the error made in the late 1800's.

He isn't obligated to enforce federal laws any more than the federal authorities are obligated to enforce local laws.

But it's ok when Obama refuses to enforce existing Federal Immigration Law isn't it? Because he's a Fed, and you think All Rights come from "The Fed"?

You couldn't BE more wrong.

Gov't Power comes from the People through the States. THE STATES are Sovereign over the Federal Gov't, The Federal Gov't has to listen to the States, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! The Federal Government ONLY EXISTS because the States made it so!

We are the United STATES of America, NOT the United Central Federal Gov't of America.

Whether he effectively enforces laws is between him and the voters. However, if he thinks he can prevent federal officers from doing their job he is in for quite an experience.

Many Federal Officers won't enforce Federal Law in a State, I'm guessing around 50-75% of them.

That is the key to toppling the Dictator Obama: If the Military, Federal and Local Police don't follow the Illegal Orders he'll issue, Obama has no power.
