OWS makes all these communist demands - what the fuck will they do if they're not met??

Occupy the parks all winter until people start dying from frost bite?

Let me guess you're gong to get "violent?"

OWS has no power whatsoever.

They're getting regular media attention and even you felt the need to discuss them. I wouldn't call that no power at all.

Yeah, they're getting media attention - and every non-progressive is laughing at them.

Their whole message is "give us socialism" or we will occupy this park and bully anyone who doesn't agree with our message...

NONE of their demands will be met - a bunch of fruit flies aren't a revolution - they're a nuisance.

They're like children stomping their feet because mommy doesn't give them a cookie.

They are getting negative attention now. True communists - the die hards - are anti-democracy and are intolerant of "individualism". They will marginalize the average "99 percenter" by Christmas I suspect. In turn, they will become the "1 percent".Will they get violent? I hope not, but they won't be supported by the masses.

The funny part is that they refer to themselves as individuals then portray themselves as collectivists...

How can one be an individualist collectivist??

That's like saying "I'm hot but I'm cold."

Based on the hours I spent at the OWS in Los Angeles, I think you are correct. There was FAR more arguing between the occupiers than between them and those of us questioning their socialist solutions. I saw fights break out (nothing serious) and dozens of shouting matches but it was all between occupiers. My impression was that had no focus, no central message but all were advocating one form of socialism or another.

I actually had one OWS protester tell me he was a Libertarian Socialist...:eusa_eh:

I set him straight on what it means to be a Libertarian...he walked away in a huff.

They won't stay out there long... staying out there, dealing with the cold, cleaning after themselves, getting food, etc... that's too much like work... they'll be back in mom's basement or their college flop houses, scarfing cheetos and playing Halo soon enough

Most of the protesters are stupid people and they wonder why they have nothing??

A "libertarian socialist"

May as well say "authoritarian libertarian"

I'm sure Michael Moore will buy them coats or they will just charge a small business that sells coats and steal them...

The progressive elitists will financially support this commune until the end..

I agree. However there are some rumblings on the interwebs by them to start some kind of general strike and other civil disorder. They hope to cause people not to be able to work, shop, or go to school.

Now I think it is highly unlikely that they can get enough people to join them, but once they come out of the park and cause disturbance to the rest of us they are domestic terroritsts.

and like many others I have taken the oath to protect against enemies foreign and domestic.

they have been cleaning after themselves?

I think plenty will join them.... but it would not be a strike... to be able to strike, you have to work

And if they attempt to impede traffic or prevent people from entering places of work... lock 'em up and throw away the key

OWS makes all these communist demands

Like what?

what the fuck will they do if they're not met??

My guess is they'll vote against politicians who won't support what they're asking for. That is what normally happens.

OWS has no power whatsoever.

Why do you hate people for protesting the government? Why are you so in love with the government? Fascist.

Pretty amusing to me how many threads on OWS have been started by right-wingers on this forum. Just to play along for a minute or two:

Occupy will not disappear.
Occupy has already reversed the political dialogue, and put the GOP on the defensive, and pushed the Democrats to the left. Not enough, but it's a start.
The issues being addressed by Occupy have the support of overwhelming majorities of the American people.
If the occupation of a New York park itself comes to an end, say in response to a police crackdown, the movement will simply shift tactics.
There is no need for violence, and violence will not be used.
In the end, if the government continues to serve the interest of campaign donors and disregard the voters, there will be a revolution. Although I seriously doubt things will go that far.
Occupy is proof positive that all of the populist energy in this country is not on the right; in fact the populist energy on the left is far bigger and has more potential influence.

You know, or at least suspect and fear, all these things. The attention being paid to Occupy by conservatives on this forum is proof of that.

You ridicule the movement to defuse your own fear.
You predict its demise for the most trivial of factors, as if people who have repeatedly endured police truncheons, tear gas, and pepper spray are going to be cowed by a little cold weather, out of wishful thinking, because you are afraid.
You lie about it, claiming violence, public defecation, trash piling up, and other behavior which has no basis in fact, because you fear it.

In the world you thought you lived in, this movement could not exist. But it does. You do not live in that world. So what world do you live in? That's probably the scariest thought of all.

Of course you'll ridicule this post, too. But that, too, is an act of fear.

You hit the nail on the head. I have been monitoring "Occupy Philadelphia" because my two kids go to college there and it's already a very dangerous city. The weird thing about the "Occupy Philly" group is they all claim to be patriots. On their facebook page, they quote the founding fathers and are calling for a Constitutional Convention next July - just like in 1776. The theme thus far seems to be "freedom" and "liberty" and many are self-described civil libertarians. According to my son, there are quite a few Ron Paul supporters. They would like to see absolute democracy - not a representative one. They also are planning a protest in D.C. because they understand that the government is half the problem. Radical? Or similar to the Tea Party?

But then there are the socialists who want free shit, yet they are trying to reconcile the two ideologies.

It can't be done.

Yes, many of them are ridiculous. The ones I've heard mention "income inequality" are the ones that I've shaken my head at. Many of them are not so extreme. And here we go again: There were some crazies at the Tea Party rallies, just as there are crazies at OWS. I'm speaking of those who felt/feel like they have to have a gun on their person, everywhere they go. Where are we? In the wild fucking West? Do we regularly have shootouts at poker tournaments?

My dad carried a gun with us everywhere we went, when I was growing up. But he was a cop. I don't recall him strapping it to his sweatpants. It went in the glove compartment of the car. And he's about as conservative as they come.

"Dying of frostbite"? I've seen a lot of people die from hypothermia. Frostbite? Maybe due to gangrene after treatment.
