how did asking for ID at the polls become a "deterrent"

there's a huge difference between asking for ID and making someone pass requirements to vote.
somehow our modern government has managed to fuse them together.

only people who want to corrupt an election would not want voters to be validated.

why isn't the public outraged?

The only people that are against an election system without fraud, are those who condone, and those who commit election fraud.

Only people with suspicious and racist minds would request ID from a registered voter. The days of Jim Crow are over and done. I cannot believe the ignorance and fear of some people when it comes to diversity, choice and conscience when others are marking their ballot.

Making certain voters do not violate election Laws is hardly racist... Only a racist would make such a ludicrous connection.

What part of my post did you not understand? Perhaps I need to dumb it down next time so it's more on your level? Here goes: Um... It ain't racist to want people who pull the lever for President to follow voting Law. Now do you get it?

Only a corrupt political party would push these laws without ample time for people without ID and without proper resources to attain one with ease before an election. Only a corrupt political party would conveniently shut down photo ID centers close to poor neighborhoods and make it more difficult.(Wisconsin)

Hey....I'm cool with voter ID....I think our registration cards ought to have our Pictures right on them.....but they ought to be free, they ought to be easy to get, and there ought to be plenty of time to get them....2014 would be great.....and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court agrees with me.

right. It's not about the system. It's about suppression of the opposition.

I just wish they would man up to it :eusa_shifty:

Registered voters were required to present ID at the DNC. Registered voters are required to present ID when they go into a government building such as Eric Holder's Department of Justice. What is so goddamned "racist" about presenting ID at the poll when you have to present it everywhere else?

So anytime you apply for a credit card, apply for a job, get pulled over by the police, and get asked to verify your identity. That is an act of racism? :cuckoo:

My voter registration card is free. And they get sent to me every year paid for by our tax dollars to boot. Do you vote in a third world country or something? :eusa_shifty:

To busy watching dancing with the stars.

Identity papers, please! Papers, old man!

Voter ID won't fix anything. The problems are in the registration process. If you want the registration problems fixed, then here's an idea. Fix the registration problems!

Voter ID is just one more bureaucratic layer. And we all know how the right wing loves more government bureacracy that doesn't solve a damned thing.

I'm begining to believe maybe that batshit nutjob Glenn Beck was onto something. There are definitely some socialistic tendencies emanating from the Right. PATRIOT Act, "Homeland security", corporatism, national identity cards, travel restrictions, the militarization of our police, war fever. Toss in some good old fashioned racial hatred and bigotry toward gays...yeah, it's all there.

Papers!

I strongly recommend everyone who thinks they are a conservative to read The Road To Serfdom. That book is as much a message to you as it is to the Left.

Seriously. Read it. Including all the introductions and prefaces. Wake up.

There's a reason the Libertarians are saying there is no longer any difference between the two parties.

It's quite certain by now that voter ID laws are a reaction to a problem we never had and will prevent many more eligible voters than it will fraudulent votes, on the other hand, we are still subject to voting on rigged machines run by shady characters and republicans just don't seem to care too much about that. I wonder why?

"Corrupt Nation" indeed. Cliches seem to roll off the left these days. Is it corrupt to have any restrictions on voting? How about the estimated 10 million illegal aliens residing in the US? Is it corrupt not to allow them to vote? Should people have to register and have their names checked off at the polling place? The word "corrupt" is typical of the way the whiny left thinks of this Country.
