New ABC/WaPo poll out finds that only 20 percent of Americans claim to be Republicans, a 26-year low. Additionally, while a majority believe the country is on the wrong track, 49 percent trust Obama to make the right decisions for the country, versus 34 percent who trust Congressional Democrats, and a paltry 19 percent who trust the Congressional Republicans. (The 20 percent claim to be GOP number is apparently not in the data to which I linked, but ABC reported it on their evening newscast).

I wonder whats wrong with that party.

I know, there will be personal attacks and that is getting boring, lets try to stick to this post and comment on it.

You can probably verify the percentages elsewhere. To be a Republican today is awful. Why does our party suck? No leadership, no message, a hysterical voice. Replace the leadership, get a solid conservative message, get a calm voice in a moderate tone.

Post Poll: Only 20% Identify As Republicans, Lowest Since 1983

Reporting on the new ABC/Washington Post poll has mostly focused on support for a public health care option. But the poll also shows that, while Republicans have succeeded in stonewalling Democratic initiatives in Congress, they have not managed to rebuild their party.
Only 20 percent of respondents identified themselves as Republicans -- the lowest number since 1983.
"These numbers, coming roughly one year before the 2010 midterm elections, show that any celebration on the GOP's behalf is premature as the party has yet to convince most voters that it can be a viable alternative to Democratic control in Washington today," wrote Chris Cillizza.

As least according to the right-wing folks who post on this board, none of them voted for Bush and never were Republicans, so those poll numbers aren't surprising.

If it wasn't credible, his wife, Mary Matalin, never would have let him publish it. She was one of Cheney's closest aides, attached at the hip to him.

I wonder who is embarrasing the republican party so much, they wont even claim that party as theirs..

Want to know why? Simple.........2000-2008, Cheney and Bush Jr.

Shit......Republicans were actually asking him to NOT show up at their reelection rallies.

Combine that with the TARP, the failed economy, as well as the war, and you'd see EXACTLY why the Republicans aren't so well liked......

They were in charge when the shit storm hit.

Well, that and Beck/tea parties/right wing nuts?

Speaking of Blech.........

Heard his latest rant? Seems that he thinks we're living in Mao's China because of the president urging Americans to volunteer. He stated that it's a Communist/Socialist agenda.

Too bad he didn't realize that Bush Sr. is the one that started the 1,000 points of light program.
