One State's NUllification is all it takes

Bill Clinton, President of the United States, was impeached by the House of Representatives on December 19, 1998, and acquitted by the Senate on February 12, 1999. The charges, perjury, obstruction of justice, and malfeasance in office, arose from the Monica Lewinsky scandal and the Paula Jones lawsuit.

In 2006 one state nullified the REAL ID act and it stopped it right there from being enacted throughout the United States. I wonder how hard will this healthcare bill be to enforce if all 37 states passed their healthcare nullification bills now sitting in state legislatures.

This could be a very interesting developement.

If even a quarter of the states refuse the mandates demanded by this bill, much less 37, will this force a Constitutional Convention? Maybe The Big 0 will literally end the Republic.

A President of consequence(s)?

37 is a big number in this arena. 38 is even bigger.

The United States Constitution - The U.S. Constitution Online - USConstitution.net

Article V - Amendment Note1 - Note2 - Note3
The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.

 You think you could pass a Constitutional Amendment against Healthcare???

What a Moron

Not at all. If 30 states say that they are united against a particular item of the Federal government's activities, and this could become the case, a Constitutional convention could be called. If a Constitutional Convention is called, one amendment is nothing.

If there are currently 37 states working on legislation to do the same thing, which is oppose this boondoggle being passed over objections of a majority of citizens, that leaves the states one state shy of literally dissolving the Federal government.

The states are more broke than is the Federal Government because they cannot mint currency. The yo-yos running Washington haven't heard about this apparently and are about to pass legislation that will demand more money of states that are already broke.

Interesting math in this thing.

Our government is obviously broken. Maybe it's time to just throw it away and start over.

The Big 0 could be remembered as the President who was the last President of the "Old Republic". Maybe the new Federal Capital will be named Obama instead of Washington.

Maybe I could move to Vancouver. I hear it doesn't snow there and you can survive with English as a first language.

Moron? Speaking of that? *YOU* Missed entirely the POINT. Rightwinger? YOU are a fucking JOKE of a poster.

Do you have a CLUE? How difficult it is to pass an amendment?

FUCKING MORONS

I'm dealing with FUCKING MORONS

Let's see, we would need 38 states to call a Constitutional Convention. We already have 37 states who oppose this mandate. If they fail in the courts, what exactly is going to stop the States from holding a Convention?

Not to split hairs, but we only need 34 states to call the Convention.

*You Can't* It's a VIOLATION. *IF* It passes? Obama signs it, and becomes IMPEACHABLE. How do YOU square that?

Impeachable?? :disbelief:

Ever Hear of High Crimes and Misdemeaners?

From the party that impeaches a blowjob

If you were any stupider we could call you Congressman Kucinich.....Clinton was impeached for PERJURY.

Yes we all believe that was the motivation

No constitutional conventions is needed. Once a state nullifies federal law the fed usually quits which is what happened with Real ID. I suppose if they really wanted to enforce it they could but they won't since local authorities can intercede on the behalf of the public.

What happens if the feds (dems) don't quit? Can the states simply ignore the stupid federal Law? Would Obama send out US Marshals to State Houses or what?

I'm thinking that would basically end the democrat party at the next election.

That I don't know but usually when one person in authority is interceded by another person in authority the two power-mongrols respect each other's right to rule. Imagine if one manager of your company tells you to do something but anther manager told you to do the opposite. Usually one of the managers will respect the right of one manager to rule over you and accept that manager's nullification of his order.

This is what happened with the REAL ID act in 06. A few states were so pissed off they nullified and it killed the whole thing.

that's WHY they are FEW and *FAR BETWEEN* On a Constitutional SCALE dipshit. But as we see? The *Slaughter RULE* means to circumvent Article 1, Section 7, Clause TWO...

HOW do you square that RW?
