Zappa was a genius but much of his music is an acquired taste. I have 27 of his albums on my i-pod! His early stuff with the Mothers may seem a bit esoteric, but if you listen to a few spins, even his "bad" songs are better than much of the garbage that passes today....Try listening to the "The Grand Wazoo" or "Hot Rats" ......For live albums - "Roxy and Elsewhere" and "buffalo" are awesome too...

hey! del, you know i agree with you an awful lot. but zappa really is unlistenable but for a couple of songs. mostly, music is real personal and different things resonate for different people.

1. Vehemently anti-drug, thought the notion of musicians being able to play better when they were stoned was total insanity and

2. Sued the record company (and won) for fucking him over
