One big reason why unions are good!

What happened to your TEs? Did you ever have any.... we have 15 routes (1 vacant, 1 more to be vacant in July) NO PTFs, but 3 TEs. They've been trying undertime undertime undertime on us for about a year. It's been a disaster. We've won grievances every single month for OTDL "No" people working OT when there was an OTDL "Yes" available. It's got to be costing them a fortune to settle all these, but they don't learn. The higher ups just replace our OIC and 204b's every couple months. So the new guys come in with the same shitty attitude blaming carriers for all the problems.

they got rid of all the TE's AND casuals.....we have 2 PTF's....who get sent to other offices so we can absorb parts of routes....they wanna eliminate 2 routes by Oct.....they violate the contract whenever it works for them.....but if you miss a scan....you hear about it

what is your steward doing about the contract violations? if he allows them to continue those violations they become accepted as a past practice and cannot be undone in the future. a discussion with your steward appears to be in order, to make sure these issues are being properly addressed
no matter how well a contract is written, if it is not enforced it does the union employees no good

They can do whatever they want, maybe the union employees should figure out what they need to do to get so many hours then do that. It is called self-advancement.

so its ok to have corp disregard the laws of unions that protect people and fuck others over so 1 whiner can have 40 hours and a job when that store didnt have the hours to give to begin with???! thats assinine willow, even for you!

sure,, is,, 40 hours of work for one person vs.. 50 for another,, one big giant fuck up.. wowser. them unions are great. Rite Aid won't be around long after all the "arbitration" is over.

for your info my sis and a couple others went from getting 25-30 hours to NO HOURS just so they could hire this whiny lil fuck in...hows that fair!

they file the grievences and the PO pays out a lot of money to the grieved.....ONE reason why the PO loses a lot of money,is the grievence process, they violate the contract if it suits them, and just shell out the money.....if they would abide by the contract it would save them money in the long run....but they dont.....one of the biggest violations in my area is overtime violations.....

Who would you rather be in a position to judge you or anyone else on your performance at work? A person who has a vested interest in the viability of the company or someone who has no vested interest in the company?
Company managers all answer to someone, even the president of a company has to answer to a board, the investors, the bank, someone. Unions do not. They say they are concerned with your welfare, but if that were true wouldn't that also have to include the interests of the company? Because without the company you would have no job.
So then, what are they at that point? Just another layer of management? Roaming human resource persons? Do they go around giving the workers massages when they are stressed? No. They are none of those.
They don't say what they really are, because they really nothing more than a bunch of people wanting control and they do it because they can, because the workers are too stupid to see otherwise. They want and get pay-off from the workers who can't get a job from them unless they pay then they turn around and get protection money from the companies to keep the workers, working. The mafia made tons of money the same way.
They are a scourge to free enterprise and, in no small way, a reason why our industry is in such poor condition today.

cant agree with you on at least half of what your saying.....the place i work for,the PO,would give you the least possible and treat you like SHIT if it wasnt for the Unions,we still get treated like shit from the middle managers, they only care about no 1,and 90% of them will fuck you and anyone else that they can,to move up the POWER ladder....the unions are constantly doing battle with these assholes....and its all an ego thing with most of these managers....the grievences are usually kinda pathetic And foolish and should have been settled in the station it started in and never got beyond that....but because of the middle managers much of it goes beyond and then starts costing money and time....and usually ends up with the PO losing and shelling out thousands.....if a Co. takes reasonably good care of its employees and treats them fair you would not need a Union, not the case with the Govt.......
