Once Again, Courts Invalidate Voters Wishes

Federal law trumps state law, sorry that's just how it works. If the people vote on a law that's unconstitutional it's still unconstitutional and should be removed.

Unconstitutional as determined by a three judge panel. I'd like to see this issue go to the SCOTUS, because it seems odd to me that we can declare that only citizens have the right to vote, but at the same time remove any means of verifying citizenship when it comes to voting.

That is a legitimate question, but irrelevant to this court ruling. This case didn't and shouldn't have considered federal law in determining this case. This court ruling merely determined that the state law ran counter to federal law, and that can NEVER be done.

The issue of is the federal law right is another matter. I happen to disagree , I think proof SHOULD be required, and anyone who doesn't is a whack job.

Sorry about your luck, you're not able to discriminate against the Latino community.. Look on the bright side, you still have your racist governor and Sheriff Joe.
How is it racist to require proof of citizenship to vote? Are you claiming that voting in US elections is not a responsibility of citizenship, but a human right that applies to everyone regardless of citizenship?

Take your time. I can tell you haven't given this any thought.

It is not racist, some just have no intelligent argument to hang their hat on, so charges of racism are all they are left with. I'm surprised really, Sarah usually brings more than that to the table.

Good post...and it won't be long, then, until they decide that another Democrat constituency, felons, can vote.

Illinois Soldiers Wait for Ballots. Prisoners Get Hand Delivery.
Over 35 counties in Illinois missed the deadline to mail military ballots to our soldiers defending America. But in Chicago, county election officials have taken special steps to ensure that no inmates at the Cook County Jail are unable to cast a ballot.

The Chicago Board of Elections hand delivers ballots to the jail. They don’t even wait for the inmates to apply – they bring the applications with the ballots! Over 2,600 inmates have cast ballots so far – strikingly similiar to the 2,600 soldiers who will likely not recieve a ballot for the Nov 2 election.

Illinois state law says people incarcerated and on parole are barred from voting. People with felony convictions may vote upon completion of parole.

It's unconstitutional. Unlike the fascist wingnuts, liberals respect the Constitution, even when they disagree with a courts ruling.
Horseshit.

I know it's not racist. I want to hear her explanation, assuming she has one.

In this day and age, there is NO excuse for that. If the USG can set up a secure network to transmit battle plans halfway around the world, and they can, then they can surely set up a secure network to be sure that soldiers get to vote. That should be priority ONE for any politician, end of story.

It is rare that an individual reveal how truly inept they are in the areas of knowledge and debate as quickly as you have.

The very basis of modern liberalism is the denial of the Constitution...

1.The Progressives view of the direction that America should take began to gain prominence in the late 19th century-early 20th century. It was very different from America’s political traditions up to that point. Ms. Clinton described herself as a ‘modern progressive, of the beginning of the 20th century.

2. Progressives, i.e. John Dewey, co-opted the term liberal, but it was big government liberalism as opposed to the original (classical) meaning of liberalism.

3. These Progressives differed dramatically from earlier incarnations of this viewpoint in that, for the first time they professed open and direct criticism of the Constitution. This separation from earliest traditions was the backbone of the Progressive movement.
a. The Constitution was ‘old,’ and not equipped to deal with ‘new social ills.’
b. Not limited government, but expansive government was necessary.
c. The outdated concepts of checks and balances were obstacles for the Progressives’ agenda.
d. ‘Social Justice’ requires the redistribution of private property, and the Constitution stood in the way.
e. The new view attacked the social compact and natural rights of citizens theory embodied by the Constitution.f. The rights of the collective, the state, surpass those of the individual.

4. Frank Goodnow, “The American Conception of Liberty and Government,” a president of Johns Hopkins University, and pioneered with Woodrow Wilson a science of administration separated from the limits of constitutional government. In this essay, Goodnow both promotes the idea of separation of politics and administration, and critiques the human rights theory of the Declaration of Independence and its influence on the practice of American government. [p.101]

a. Goodnow explains the European viewpoint toward the rights of the individual: “In a word, man is regarded now throughout Europe, contrary to the view expressed by Rousseau, as primarily a member of society and secondarily as an individual. The rights which he possesses are, it is believed, conferred upon him, not by his Creator, but rather by the society to which he belongs. What they are is to be determined by the legislative authority in view of the needs of that society. Social expediency, rather than natural right, is thus to determine the sphere of individual freedom of action.”

This, of course was the desire of Goodnow and the Progressives for America.

It should be, but it's not, because the military votes mainly Republican.

It's ironic that people who call themselves Democrats have such contempt for democracy.

As for the IL law, it says:

SECTION 2. VOTING DISQUALIFICATIONS
A person convicted of a felony, or otherwise under
sentence in a correctional institution or jail
, shall lose
the right to vote, which right shall be restored not later
than upon completion of his sentence.
(Source: Illinois Constitution.)
So, if you're in Cook County jail, you are prohibited from voting. Period.

I'd like to see this report confirmed. But I damn sure won't see it in the MSM.

The proof of the rights' hatred for the Constitution and the freedom it provides is the way they want to re-write it by adding, changing and deleting parts of the Constitution

Why does the right hate America?

Psst. The COTUS was designed to be added to and in effect changed, but NEVER deleted from.

Have you ever even read the document?

It's actually a little more lenient: It requires a felony conviction. IL says you can just be in county jail and you can't vote.

Have you ever heard of Prohibition? You do realize, I hope, that it was constitutional amendment, and then it was repealed.

Unless what you're objecting to is my use of the word "delete" as opposed to the more accurate "repeal".

Exactly so, nothing has and nothing ever will be deleted from the COTUS. As for changing it, why would you be against that? Do you support returning it to its original form where blacks and women couldn't vote? I mean either you are FOR allowing changes to be made or you are against it. Or in the case of most liberals I know of, they , meaning YOU, are okay with changes if they are the changes YOU want.
