And you can thank the POPE for threatening to give up the Pontiff position and return to Poland as its Bishop IF the Soviets rolled the tanks in to crush Solidarity, too.

Face it folks, most of us cannot think of too many good things to say about the RC church.

Well this is one place where every person who hated the Soviet Regime ought to give credit where credit is due.

Had the Pope NOT threatened the Soviets, the would have crushed Solidarity.

Why did they fear the Polish Pope returning to Poland?

Because he told them he would ENCOURAGE a revolt against the Soviet puppet regime if he returned to Poland.

They took him seriously, thank god.
