On this anniversary

We are more Prepared, so that is a Yes. Firm Yes. No Expectations, no Surprises.

The Iraq/Afghanistan Strategy was a part of the Equation. Read Tommy Franks Book "American Soldier". Your side of the Aisle Undermined it, and it fell apart. Ever ask yourself what the State Department was doing for 3 Years after the Invasion. We had a melt down on the International Stage that You brought about. It was effective, It was very effective, and empowered the opposition. Welcome to the Show. Please be Seated. The next Act is about to begin. Taking Control of Government was more important to some than the Health and Welfare of This Nation. Nationalation and Socialization is more important to the same than Our Health and Welfare. Open Your Eyes.

Ok. More prepared, sure.
But what the hell does that have to do with these wars??
And as for all that drivel about "my side" undermining security and whatever nonsense stream of consciousness you were writing ...you're crazy. Plain and simple.:cuckoo:

You are an Ass that just doesn't get it. American left did more damage to this struggle than Al-Qaeda. Had this been an Islamic Country, and done anything that Questioned the Cause, You would now be dead and buried. You all led the charge. Not you personally, You just lapped up the Kool-Aid Lap Dog. Al-Jezeera took a back seat to the DNC spin machine.

Lapped up what kool-aid, dummy?
Look, we fought this ridiculous thing YOUR way. If it were up to me, we would have fought this threat with recon and pinpoint attacks. Not boots on the ground. That just doesn't work on this enemy. It never has, and it won't in the future.
We did this thing the war way for 8 years, to what kind of end?
The fact that you can't admit it was a mistake makes you a moron.

Whoa there Princess, This was not fought My way? What ever the hell gave you that Idea? I know, ... the Kool-Aid. What We needed was a multi-pronged Coordinated Effort that included boots on the ground. Read " American Soldier" by Tommy Franks, if you get a chance. It does explain much. Up until a certain point.

The Effort included Factors, or should have included Factors outside of and beyond Military.
My preference would have been a Stabilized Afghanistan, that would have been a working Model of a Constitutional Republic, Establishing Equal Justice for All, Inside the Islamic World, without threatening foundation. Pipe Dream, I Know, but realistic end result, as opposed to Global Totalitarianism. I'll side with choice over the barrel end of a gun and chains. Explain where the State Department was for the longest time between the end of hostilities, after the initial invasion and the rebuilding phase?

Agressiveness is one thing this enemy does respect and understand. That has worked, and will continue to. Occupation, without direction, is a waste.

We're still here. That says much. We're still a Republic, for now.

We are fighting two fronts, The Jihad, and The Socialist Peoples that are Followers of Marx Revolution, of the Proletariat and Peasant, DNC UAW AFL-CIO, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, and other unmentioned affiliates.

It's a tough fight, but compared to the alternative, a pleasure.

8 Years of Fighting Terrorists and Jihad is nothing. Method, Tactics, Common Sense, Reason, may be far from Command, though that does not Invalidate in any way the Constitutional Obligation of Our Military, to Protect The Constitution, The Government, and The People From Threat. That it is the Obligation to Protect form All Enemies, Foreign and Domestic. You are deceived about handfuls of Terrorist's. The Jihad, on that end will by won when The World converts to Islam, and Submits to Their Rule. Don't Include Me in Your Surrender.

.

And you conveniently blew by my only actual question to give your long patriotic and ridiculous diatribe on "us vs them".
That question again was "Are we any safer from jihadist threats today than in 2001"?
After all the death and destruction and money and scandal....ask yourself...was it really worth it?
Not that we could just let these scum continue to plot against America. We must be vigilant and determined and harsh with this enemy. This is an absolute.
But this sad display of global arrogance and thoughtless force that is the Iraq/Afghanistan wars is just not an intelligent or realistic way to win this thing.
Oh, and I'm not a democrat so I don't know what "my side of the aisle" is.

I would've said yes until this week, when that nutcase took over the Airmexico plane between Cancun and Mexico City. Maybe that's just how Mexicans work though, I'd think in America by now, anyone hijacking a plane would be bum-rushed by the other passengers even if he was armed with a dirty bomb.

As for Afghanistan... I thought that was a mistake in the lead-up. I regret thinking so now. A government refuses to flush out a terrorist that did that to the WTC is complicit in it, and with 3,000 civilians dead, that's an act of war. What else were we going to do if they were harboring Osama Bin Laden, and at the time they clearly were.

My question though is whether our engagement with Iraq was worth it. The intelligence was wrong, Saddam posed no threat and the war seemed to be an elective distraction from our business in Afghanistan right from the get-go.

Just my random, off-tangent 9/11 thought of the year.

It's not random or off-tangent, mousy. Just Stay Prepared and think outside of the box.

P.S. Watch them there Glue traps, they get ya every time.

The fact is we did go in with an occupying force of ridiculously insufficient numbers to the screaming accolades of you conservatives. To pretend otherwise is an insult to my intelligence.
And to infer that this terrorist threat is one that could change our way of life or imprison us is laughable. They are not a nation, dummy. If the superpower USSR couldn't do it, a band of towel heads in caves is going to?
You're an ass.

And a principal tenet of Christianity is to convert everyone, too.

Their Extremists dictate direction, they treat those that oppose the same way they treat us.

We support Inalienable Right and Equal Justice, They are opposed.

Keep on keeping on though.

What are you a comedian??
How many Americans have had their heads cut off IN AMERICA, huh? That'd be none, genius.

Let us not forget that we were duped as a nation into endless, pointless wars as a direct result of the fear and anger following this attack.
The greatest CIA disinformation campaign in the congress took place in 2002-2003, when CIA director George Tenet and his deputy, John McLaughlin, consistently lied about Iraqi training for al Qaeda members on chemical and biological weapons as well as the existence of mobile labs to manufacture such weapons. . .
Lets not forget that when the nation was MOST in need of leadership President George W. Bush instructed the citizens to go out and SHOP!

I hated when Bush did it, I hated when Obama did it. Pay off debt. Dark days are ahead. Barry still has 4 budget years to go. We act like it's all over. Reality check... it's the bottom of the first inning.

Sept. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Joseph Stiglitz, the Nobel Prize- winning economist, said the U.S. has failed to fix the underlying problems of its banking system after the credit crunch and the collapse of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.

“In the U.S. and many other countries, the too-big-to-fail banks have become even bigger,” Stiglitz said in an interview today in Paris. “The problems are worse than they were in 2007 before the crisis.”

Stiglitz’s views echo those of former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, who has advised President Barack Obama’s administration to curtail the size of banks, and Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer, who suggested last month that governments may want to discourage financial institutions from growing “excessively.”

A year after the demise of Lehman forced the Treasury Department to spend billions to shore up the financial system, Bank of America Corp.’s assets have grown and Citigroup Inc. remains intact. In the U.K., Lloyds Banking Group Plc, 43 percent owned by the government, has taken over the activities of HBOS Plc, and in France BNP Paribas SA now owns the Belgian and Luxembourg banking assets of insurer Fortis.

While Obama wants to name some banks as “systemically important” and subject them to stricter oversight, his plan wouldn’t force them to shrink or simplify their structure.

Stiglitz said the U.S. government is wary of challenging the financial industry because it is politically difficult, and that he hopes the Group of 20 leaders will cajole the U.S. into tougher action.

G-20 Steps

“We aren’t doing anything significant so far, and the banks are pushing back,” he said. “The leaders of the G-20 will make some small steps forward, given the power of the banks” and “any step forward is a move in the right direction.”

G-20 leaders gather next week in Pittsburgh and will consider ways of improving regulation of financial markets and in particular how to set tighter limits on remuneration for market operators. Under pressure from France and Germany, G-20 finance ministers last week reached a preliminary accord that included proposals to claw-back cash awards and linking compensation more closely to long-term performance.

“It’s an outrage,” especially “in the U.S. where we poured so much money into the banks,” Stiglitz said. “The administration seems very reluctant to do what is necessary. Yes they’ll do something, the question is: Will they do as much as required?”

Global Economy

Stiglitz, former chief economist at the World Bank and member of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, said the world economy is “far from being out of the woods” even if it has pulled back from the precipice it teetered on after the collapse of Lehman.

“We’re going into an extended period of weak economy, of economic malaise,” Stiglitz said. The U.S. will “grow but not enough to offset the increase in the population,” he said, adding that “if workers do not have income, it’s very hard to see how the U.S. will generate the demand that the world economy needs.”

The Federal Reserve faces a “quandary” in ending its monetary stimulus programs because doing so may drive up the cost of borrowing for the U.S. government, he said.

“The question then is who is going to finance the U.S. government,” Stiglitz said.
