Copé, a non practicing jew, opposes gay marriage. Most in his party are not religious and still oppose gay marriage:

93% of french muslims voted for socialist Hollande in the second round. In Germany only 10-15% of turkish germans vote for Merkel's CDU.

So i see common points. The Left needs victimized minorities, and will label as "racism" any attempt to refute their agenda.

Under this pressure, legislators dropped a plan to amend the draft law to allow lesbians access to assisted reproduction techniques such as artificial insemination that are now limited to heterosexual couples with fertility problems.


18,000 mayors have signed a petition demanding a "conscience clause" that would allow mayors to refuse to perform gay marriages.

Considering the American 'revolution' would not have succeeded without French aid, it always surprises me that Americans are so ignorantly contemptuous of that great country.
