relax dude..its all for fun.....

Rikki don't lose that number;)

'74... I bought my first car. 1966 VW Beetle. Paid $315 I earned from a summer job in a sweat factory with circa 1920's equipment. Butt weld, stamp weld, metal press. 11pm to 7am shift.
My buddy worked the same shift in another factory. After work we'd meet at his place for bong hits or an occasional quaalude.

The Beetle... I drove that thing for thousands of miles. Once to Colorado (over the Continental Divide), Tennessee a few times, commuting back and forth to college. Drove it at times without breaks, without a clutch, and without a starter.

1974 was also when the most profound epic groundbreaking work of music was released- Tales From Topographic Oceans. A four-movement piece (one vinyl side per song) based upon a lengthy footnote from the book "Autobiography of a Yogi" which I had previously read in order to find solice from a recent breakup with my high school sweetheart.

I found that solice, but didn't quite get the connection to the book. So I dropped some acid and gave it another listen. I concluded that the people who wrote that music were also tripping. LOL.

The best time for R&B/Soul was about 72 - 76...O'Jays, Spinners, Barry White, Billy Paul, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, and...
Some white guys from Scotland?

1974 sandwiched in between the energy crisis of 73 and Jaws in 75 LOL I was in 6th Grade, remember most of those songs. Was at camp when Nixon Resigned. Camp counselors listened to it on the radio and cried. Saw streakers in the park, lots of fun.

List of the top ten movies of 1974:
01) The Godfather: Part II
02) Blazing Saddles
03) Young Frankenstein
04) Chinatown
05) The Conversation
06) The Longest Yard
07) Thunderbolt and Lightfoot
08) The Taking of Pelham One Two Three
09) The California Split
10) The Towering Inferno
