There is no "guy" that built the road to Gates house. It was a community made up of local, city, county, state and federal participation through property taxes, bonds, tolls, gasoline taxes and federal money. The localities do get a "raise" when something like the Gates Medina compound gets built.

There were use substantial permits during the construction of the compound. The property taxes of Medina and Bellevue go up as thier assessed value increases due to Gates and his substantial possey taking residency. Most of the properties immediately surrounding the compound were purchased by Gates and rented back to many of the security personell that work for him. All of this real estate activity increased property values in the area. His neighbors have to pay extra for the priviledge of living near him.

I-420 which crosses Lake Washington via a floating bridge runs within a stones throw of the compound and was already in place as a part of the interstate hyway system. It has recently been voted expanded to a replacement through bonds and a new "toll". The connector that almost lets Bill off at his front door has recently been improved and is still in the proccess of rennovation was also paid for with state and federal money.

You might suggest that Medina made a lot of money with extra jobs in the compound's construction but not really so. Most of the "experts" were imported in from all over the U S A and the world. There were local skilled people like myself, carpenters etc.. but I doubt if even one of them lived in or spent thier money in Medina.

I go to customers businesses to respond to a service call that the customer generated.
Today my boss asked me how many service calls I cleared.
I told him I cleared 4.
He said not really..He said I had help.
I told him his information is wrong and I repeated I cleared 4...

He said I had help from government since I drove to these locations and i used the roads.
He asked if I got gas along the way.I said yeh I did.

He asked if I was breathing air today....
