OK I'LL SAY IT! Nationalize BP's American Assets !!!!

If the far white wants to make politics out of this spill and blame Obama the only way he can respond to take over the response is to nationalize BP's American assets.

Is that what you all want?

This is not rational blame of Obama; this is merely rightwing marching orders type think-of-a-way-to-blame-anything-bad-that-happens-on-Obama blame.

Do you stay up at night thinking of dumb shit to post here the next morning?

Or do you have it all ready with time to spare?

The government doesn't own GM.

But yes, it looks like BP is clueless and ineffective in stopping the spill. I have no faith that the government can do it either. It seems hopeless.

Whatever the ultimate cost of this mess is determined to be should be the baseline amount for a mandatory bond that every oil company must put up for the rights to any future drilling.

At the very least. Although probably drilling should be suspended indefinitely until technology catches up.

someone should suggest that to obama, perhaps one of the lobbyists that isn't working in the bestest, most transparentest administration ever could take some time out in between stuffing money into briefcases to bring it up?

WASHINGTON — In the days since President Obama announced a moratorium on permits for drilling new offshore oil wells and a halt to a controversial type of environmental waiver that was given to the Deepwater Horizon rig, at least seven new permits for various types of drilling and five environmental waivers have been granted, according to records.

The records also indicate that since the April 20 explosion on the rig, federal regulators have granted at least 19 environmental waivers for gulf drilling projects and at least 17 drilling permits, most of which were for types of work like that on the Deepwater Horizon shortly before it exploded, pouring a ceaseless current of oil into the Gulf of Mexico"

No dahlin'. I want Tony Hayward to do LWOP for multiple murders. I want the fuckin' spill to not have happened. I want there to be manatees to show my grandchildren, if ever I get any.

Doesn't seem now I'll be getting anything I want.

Mebbe Tony will think LWOP is a "very tiny" prison term, since he thinks his company's oil spill is a "very tiny" problem:

And who the fuck are the "far white", Huggy? Eskimos?

So with all the things going wrong in the world, some of you are worried that "your grandchildren will never see a manatee"?

If you have never seen a manatee, I can almost understand why you might say that. Lemme add, this spill will likely be the death knell for many endangered species, and if that still does not persuade you, how about finally killing the Everglades?

Some scientists believe that the loss of the Everglades will be as devastating to the Earth's ecosystem as the loss of the South American Rainforest will be.

If everything is always only about you, you might ponder on the spectre of a world without clean water or temperate climates.

How do you nationalize part of the assets of an international company?

The Constitution protects against the government taking someones property.

And let's not forget about the international consequences. You honestly think stealing the property of a British corporation is going to make the Brits all happy about us?

Hey ol M-a-d-e-l-i-n-e... Do me a flavor and start a Manatee thread. This is a serious discussion of the possibility of the U S Gov taking over BP's american assets. Please stay on topic.

The earth isn't nearly as fragile as you liberals would like to believe.

The Valdez spill isn't even noticable any longer. It was predicted it woudl ruin that area and the area is now fine.

The earth will recover from this too, so don't get too bent out of shape.

We all hope you are right Nonelitist, but some of us fear you are not. And again, even if the damage is limited to 11 dead oil rig workers and some extinct species.....how's that acceptable?

Huggy, dahlin'...explain to me please how the environmental damage being done to the US is irrelevant to a discussion of nationalizing BP's assets?

Keep talkin that "librul this".."librul that".. sparky and see where it lands. My point on this thread is that if this thing is politicised enough... then political action must be taken.

That form may be something some of you will not like very much. If the end of this spill comes under a federal mandate then they will get credit for it and you whity righties will be further buried as the party of no action..no solutions. America will be grateful to whomever gets this done.
