Microcosm... I looked it up:

microcosm
[ ˈmīkrəˌkäzəm ]
NOUN

  1. a community, place, or situation regarded as encapsulating in miniature the characteristic qualities or features of something much larger:
"Berlin is a microcosm of Germany, in unity as in division"

It's something that Kasich said, which I've heard of before, kind of makes sense, but then what does it really mean?

Obviously, it can't mean that Columbus is the center of the known universe, that would be absurd. There's lots of diversity in the state, though. There's also a lot of tension in the people, what happens when every election year the rest of the nation pushes and pulls on the hearts and minds. Are we really that influential? It's not like we have as many electoral votes as California or New York, but we have a lot of proud cultural centers in Cleveland and Cincinnati sympathetic to all points east, west, north, and south. So what's it going to be like for the 2016 elections?

I'm from Ohio.

I think Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati are very different cities with very different cultures.

I also think that the difference is mostly the vocal accent.
