In federal court Friday, In a FOIA case ruling (full pdf below) Judge James Boasberg was deciding public release over two issues related to the memos of former FBI Director James Comey. Backstory HERE and HERE.

Judge Boasberg was deciding what could be publicly released, meaning current redactions removed, based on two connected events: (#1) The content of the Comey Memos; and (#2) the declarations of lead FBI agent for Robert Mueller’s special counsel, David Archey, in describing those memos. CNN had filed a lawsuit to gain full access.

For those who may not be aware, there are so many memos (dozens) when assembled they seem to make up an actual diary of moment-by-moment events, during the FBI investigation of Donald Trump, as documented by FBI Director James Comey.

♦ In the issue of the redactions within the Comey Memos, the judge doesn’t remove them. Some are ordered to be removed, some are approved to stay in place. Could be the final nail in the FISA warrants lying justifications by Comey/Strzok, etc. for them against Page, Pappadopoulus, and others.

If they blow up the lying basis (i.e. the Steele Dossier), then the whole operation goes down, with the FBI, DOJ/NSD and Counter-Intell Div, possibly the CIA, maybe NSA, and the State Department’s Deep State elements.

1. A federal judge ordered the FBI to make public some blacked-out portions of memos written by James Comey, the agency’s former director, about his dealings with President Donald Trump.

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg in Washington refused a request by CNN to remove redactions from the parts of the memos that the Federal Bureau of Investigation said reveal its investigative methods and practices. But the judge rejected most of the redactions that the FBI made on the grounds of national security.

In one of the memos at issue, Comey recounted how the president was upset with his national security adviser at the time, Michael Flynn, for failing to tell him about some of the congratulatory phone calls he got from foreign leaders after his election.

2. A federal judge ruled Friday that the FBI must unredact some portions of former FBI director James Comey's memos about his meetings with President Trump, CNN reports. The ruling reportedly permits the names of countries and world leaders brought up in conversations between Trump and Comey to be revealed. Judge James Boasberg said the FBI did not make a strong enough case for why the redactions of countries and names threatened national security, though he let one redaction of Trump talking negatively about a certain country remain. In the memos, Comey reportedly recalled Trump explaining to him why he was concerned about his then-national security adviser Michael Flynn and expressing his “dismay” of how Flynn handled scheduling calls with world leaders. Flynn is currently awaiting sentencing after he was found guilty of one count of lying to federal investigators about his conversations with Russian officials[m1] .

3. A federal judge ordered the FBI to reveal additional parts of former FBI Director James Comey’s memos about his meeting with President Trump.

The FBI must unredact some names of countries and world leaders mentioned in the conversations between Trump and Comey, Judge James Boasberg said Friday.

The ruling comes in response to a lawsuit from CNN.

In the memos, Comey recounts a conversation with Trump about the president’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn. According to Comey, Trump said he had “serious reservations” about Flynn’s judgment and expressed frustration about how Flynn handled the scheduling of calls from world leaders.

Boasberg said the FBI’s argument that unredacting those portions would harm national security was inadequate. However, he agreed to keep one redaction in which the president speaks critically of a country.

“Given the statement and context, the Court has no trouble following the link offered by the FBI between disclosure and harm to national security,” Boasberg wrote.
