Oh Canada, thou art screwed

Canada to speed up plans to toughen security laws PM Harper Reuters
(Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said on Thursday the government will expedite plans to give more powers of detention and surveillance to security agencies in the wake of an attack on Parliament.

No way anybody could have seen this coming, right? Can't let a good tragedy go to waste.

Some dumbass commits a "terrorist" act and the honest, taxpaying citizens get pinched. Sounds like Canada is following America's queue. Using their logic, all citizens of Canada and America should be under house arrest sometime in the near future.

It would be a sad thing if they allowed their country to go the way of the US. We have so many shootings, we don't even pay attention anymore. People here can't even go to the grocery store without being afraid of some Mighty Mouse cuh-boy with a gun and a rich fantasy life.

And the sad fact is, there's no evidence it was a "terrorist act". There's no indication at all what they guy's motives were. Opportunism strikes again.

Every sacred principle and freedom must be sacrificed at the alter of multiculturalism because multiculturalism cannot exist in a free society.

Having Muslims in Canada is more important than having freedom in Canada.

Maybe it's time Canadians realized that the world isn't all sunshine and lollipops. Not every bird shits candy rainbows and not every person is happy and friendly.

Then they can remember that they gave away their right to the only true means of defending themselves..... private ownership of any/all firearms and the legal right to carry guns in public. Now they get to depend on the Government to do that for them and need to accept all the unpleasant things that go with that.

In America, it all started with the Espionage Act of 1917, then other legislation continued on with even more extensive controls over freedom of speech, expression, and movement. Canada has the Official Secrets Act, now reconstituted as the Security of Information Act.

Deport all the Muslims, painful as that would be, and then you don't need to have a pervasive security system monitoring everyone. Cure your cancer, painful as it may be, and you can live a good life thereafter.

Why? There is always another 'enemy', even if you did that, the government would still keep it in place and just target unions and communist organizations till they can find a new enemy.

If you think the government's actions...either here or in Canada, have anything to do with Hadj or the War on a Noun, I'd like to know what color the sky is in your world.

Why treat your cancer, that just increases the probability that you'll die of heart disease or from a fall in your bathroom.

What stopped Trudeau from making permanent the state of affairs created by invoking the War Measures Act?

Yep. It's that simple. Inter or deport all muslims and deny entry to any muslim or anyone from a muslim theocratic country. Any business they need to do can be easily done over the phone or online.
No need to force everyone to sacrifice privacy and freedom in order to accommodate Islam.

Cancer can go away if you flood the room with radiation, but you won't survive the operation intact.

Take them one at a time and prioritize by threat level.

Ah so Harper's pulling a Dubya?

What's more, he engineered the whole thing. Put a mask on, fired some shots, then back into the phone booth to change clothes, join the caucus, act surprised and make a speech.

Didn't bring the bullhorn though.

I am ignorant of much of Canada's political history, so you'll have to answer your own question there my friend.
