    Muslims win toy pigs ban
    The Sun (UK) ^ | Friday, October 7, 2005

Novelty pig calendars and toys have been banned from a council office — in case they offend Muslim staff.

Workers in the benefits department at Dudley Council, West Midlands, were told to remove or cover up all pig-related items, including toys, porcelain figures, calendars and even a tissue box featuring Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.

Bosses acted after a Muslim complained about pig-shaped stress relievers delivered to the council in the run-up to the Islamic festival of Ramadan.

Muslims are barred from eating pork in the Koran and consider pigs unclean.

Councillor Mahbubur Rahman, a practising Muslim, backed the ban. He said: notice what they say here)It’s a tolerance of people’s beliefs.”

Muslims Enraged, Seething at Tasty Dessert
    little green footballs ^ | 9/17/05 | Charles Johnson

Cowardice, thy name is Burger King: Burger King recalls ‘sacrilegious’ desserts. (Hat tip: efuseakay.)

THE fast-food chain, Burger King, is withdrawing its ice-cream cones after the lid of the dessert offended a Muslim.

The man claimed the design resembled the Arabic inscription for Allah, and branded it sacrilegious, threatening a “jihad”.

The chain is being forced to spend thousands of pounds redesigning the lid with backing from The Muslim Council of Britain. It apologised and said: “The design simply represents a spinning ice-cream cone.”

The offending lid was spotted in a branch in Park Royal last week by business development manager Rashad Akhtar, 27, of High Wycombe.

He was not satisfied by the decision to withdraw the cones and has called on Muslims to boycott Burger King. He said: “This is my jihad. How can you say it is a spinning swirl? If you spin it one way to the right you are offending Muslims.”

A Muslim Council spokesman said:](notice what they say here)
“We commend the sensitive and prompt action that Burger King has taken.”

I remember a while back reading about a tire company that had a newfangled tire design program. You entered various parameters--width, height, desired grip and noise levels, hydroplaning resistance, that sort of thing--and it would start crunching numbers and spit out a tread design. So the first tire it helped design was phenomenal, with a weird loopy groove pattern that no human engineer would have ever imagined. The performance was great, except the only problem was, the tread quite clearly spelled out "Allah". Which is a double blasphemy, because apparently A) you're not supposed to write out the name of the bloodthirsty moon-god, and B) if you did write it out, you certainly wouldn't have it rolling along a filthy road.

Fuck em. I say this as someone who disagrees totally with the Iraq war and regrets our country's 50 year history of meddling in the middle east. You're offended by bacon, well I'm sorry but I'm offended by your barbaric murderer-idolizing gutter-religion. You left your country because it sucked and had no jobs. Our country has lots of opportunities on the other hand. Your country's laws were written around Sharia law; ours weren't. Do you think...just maybe...that there's a correlation between ignorant, barbaric laws and an economy that's stagnant? Is there ANY country with laws even vaguely based on Sharia that isn't an economic basket case?
