Of interest

THe concept of an "immortal soul" is not exclusive to Christianity. It is shared by Islam, Hindusim, Taoism, Shintoism, Jainism...In short most any deterministic/deontological school of religious thought shares this belief. I'm not sure about Judaism as I've heard that there are different schools of thoght on the matter. And Buddhism, speaking from the earliest extant writings doesn't believe in a purely immortal soul.

That’s what I find so interesting. Have you ever seen Joseph Cambells’ “The Power of myth”? Very interesting stuff.
