Whereas the Tea Party movement has a lot of top-down control (e.g., "Freedom Works" bussing seniors to Town Hall meetings), leftwing movements are not controlled from the top. Please recall when the Left protested LBJ. No Rightwing movement would ever attempt to destroy a sitting GOP president prior to his lame duck status. It was the Left who took down LBJ. It was the Left who said they would not vote for LBJ's second term. The Right would never, ever, ever go after Dear Leader. Why? Because all rightwing movements are deeply influenced by the professional political and pundit class, who are paid by the same network of wealthy groups, and get their information from the same collection of think tanks. Anyone on the Right who speaks out against the centralized corporate power that controls the party and the country is kicked out of the circle - defunded, removed.

But let's be clear. OWS is a disorganized mess because they have no leadership, no clear message. The group is filled with sketchy malcontents with no political orientation. In most cities, OWS is a place where the homeless and the insane go for some food or human contact. That is the problem with the Left: they are not organized. The Tea Party on the other hand is tightly controlled. They have millions pouring in every year from big business. The Left will never have this because they oppose the concentrated corporate powers that own Washington and the media. The best the Left can achieve is a bunch of morons in a park.
