Several hundred protesters with the Occupy movement gathered at Independence Mall on Saturday for the first of a planned five-day event to run parallel to the city's Fourth of July festivities, with authorities on guard given the absence of a permit allowing the group to set up an encampment.

One protester was arrested about 7:30 p.m. and charged with aggravated assault of a federal law enforcement officer after National Park Service Police tried to stop the pitching of a tent on park grounds near Fifth and Walnut Streets and a scuffle ensued, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Joe Sullivan said.

The officer suffered minor facial injuries, according to Sullivan.

They plan to walk 99 miles from Phila. to NYC. Excessive heat warning for the next five days. :cuckoo:

Sounds like an opportunity for a natural thinning of the herd.

Ha ha. This gave me a chuckle. They couldn't get their act together yesterday because they were in line getting FREE ICE CREAM from Ben and Jerry's. :clap2:

About 60 protesters from Occupy and ACT UP Philadelphia marched through Center City this afternoon, stopping along the way to shout indictments of banking giants UBS, Wells Fargo and Bank of America.

The march was supposed to begin at 19th and Market streets, where a handful of activists from ACT UP had promised to "storm the stock exchange," but instead held signs and chanted in front of the building. Occupiers had planned to join them, but got tied up when lunch was late at their encampment in Franklin Square. The delay lengthened when a Ben & Jerry's truck arrived at the camp to hand out free ice cream.

The groups merged and began moving, in a mostly orderly fashion, toward City Hall around 4 p.m. and kept chanting all the way back to their camp at Franklin Square. At times there seemed to be almost as many police officers and journalists as there were protesters.

Looks like they are starting to act again. Let's pray they dont get too violent this summer. Im not highly optimistic of that though. The Conventions are going to be ugly.

Occupy Wall Street is one of the most egregiously immoral "movements" in the past several decades. Reports of rape, violence, public masturbation, and rabid antisemitism define OWS. These crimes and hatred are not isolated incidents, despite the lies that have been promoted in the Main Stream Media. To prove this point, I have compiled 40 examples in picture, video, and article form beneath.

If this "movement" sticks around, we need to have a national "KICK-AN-OCCUPIER-DAY" !

The smell of them will be unbearable in this heat. They'll leave a trail of steaming piles.

They are probably the most violent and idiotic group ever. I haven't seen any that can speak calmly and articulate what they stand for. Most are vile, in both attitude and hygiene.

Good Lord. 45 people marching 12 days without provisions. Toothbrush? Nah. Deoderant? Ha ha. Clean underwear? Who wears underwear?

Many marchers Thursday morning were unaware of the schedule; some predicted that the march would take as long as 12 days. Though most carried little but a guitar or drum or tambourine and a water bottle, they said they were not worried about provisions or safety during the trip.

"I'm not concerned at all," said Jay Kidd, 19. He made a much longer trek, he said, from Richmond to Miami earlier in the year with fellow Occupiers. "You get to interact with yourself and how you take to the elements."

Someone else will take care of them...
