Minutes of the meeting on January 11, 1996, of the New Party’s Chicago chapterBarack Obama, candidate for State Senate in the 13th Legislative District, gave a statement to the membership and answered questions. He signed the New Party “Candidate Contract” and requested an endorsement from the New Party. He also joined the New Party.1`

Recently obtained evidence from the updated records of Illinois ACORN at the Wisconsin Historical Society now definitively establishes that Obama was a member of the New Party. He also signed a “contract” promising to publicly support and associate himself with the New Party while in office.
Obama’s Third-Party History - Stanley Kurtz - National Review Online

Anyone who was in the New Party during that time has denied the above allegations.

The New Party was a radical left organization, established in 1992, to amalgamate far left groups and push the United States into socialism by forcing the Democratic Party to the left. It was an attempt to regroup*the forces on the left in a new strategy to take power, burrowing from within.
Heavy-Handed Politics

This was first proposed by Norman Thomas a former Leader of the Socialist Party.

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened."
"I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democrat Party has adopted our platform." Although I do believe that Obama was a member of the New Party and signed their contract, let us say he didn't.

Do you believe that the New Party would endorse a candidate that did not espouse their Socialist views? I don't believe they would.
In my opinion, he was and still is a Socialist.

Putin won't release his tax returns because he's claiming the Democrat Party as a dependent

1995?

Does that mean I can talk about Mitt giving haircuts?

I would not be surprised if some of this stuff was true.
Obama wants America to be like Europe....cradle to the grave entitlements...almost no middle class....and filled with liberal elitist.

I used to be a Republican...Until crazy people hijacked my party. They were too cowardly to start a Tea Party....so they infiltrated the GOP and labeled anyone who didn't goose step to their rigid, pissed off, AM Radio fueled Ideology RINO'S. That forced more and more people to cave under the pressure of extremists....even Romney....who gets called "etch a sketch"....but in truth, he simply is afraid of this group of hate mongers.

I refused to be a part of that, so I switched sides to a party that allows people NOT to be in lockstep.

The New Party wasn't a "socialist" party.

Where is your proof?

Obviously, you are too lazy or incapable of looking up information from viable sources.
Obama counts on people like you who have a low educational capacity and lack the ability to
utilize rational thought.

I was Republican for 15 years. Voted Reagan and Daddy Bush four times. Those were different Republicans. They realized that half a loaf was better than no loaf at all. Today's Republicans believe if they don't get their loaf......then nobody eats

Great op, I know almost everyone over 50 thinks exactly how they did when they were in their low to mid-thirties.

Do you have a viable source to back up your statement. If the answer is no, then it is nothing more than political garbage of your design.

In 1995

I voted primarily Republican
I opposed gay marriage
I believed the theory of trickle down

Things change over time
