The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

Why Republican don't mention this every time they talk about the budget is beyond human comprehension

When you see a republican you're also looking at a democrat there all the same, and it's a very dangerous game both parties are playing with America.

At the time, Sen. Obama joined 47 colleagues to vote against raising the nation’s borrowing limit - a vote he said signaled “leadership failure” by the George W. Bush administration. Senators narrowly passed the measure by a vote of 52 to 48.

    What?

You just figured this out when OBAMA took office?

Have you been under a rock for the last 40 years?

Not raising the debt limit is, possibly, one of the best things that could happen, as it would force the government to live within its means.

Imagine you are looking at all your credit card bills.....Would any sane person decide that in order to pay these things off, they should get another credit card?
