So Obama wants to eliminate almost a MILLION jobs by imposing impossible EPA regs....?

...and then on top of that let the Chinese ship us cement (how stupid is that).....which former working people used to make right here.......cement which the Chinese will then make without any EPA regs.....can this get any dumber....?

or should we say MORE INTENDED DESTRUCTION OF AMERICA....?

•New standards for commercial and industrial boilers: up to 798,250 jobs at risk;

•The revised National Ambient Air Quality Standard for ozone: severe restrictions on job creation and business expansion in hundreds of counties nationwide.

•New standards for Portland Cement plants: up to 18 cement plants at risk of shutting down, threatening nearly 1,800 direct jobs and 9,000 indirect jobs;

•The Endangerment Finding/Tailoring Rules for Greenhouse Gas Emissions: higher energy costs; jobs moving overseas; severe economic impacts on the poor, the elderly, minorities, and those on fixed incomes; 6.1 million sources subject to EPA control and regulation;

In fact, the new regulations threaten to put entire industries out of business. The new standard for boilers, titled “National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Major Sources: Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional Boilers and Process Heaters” and called the Boiler MACT, creates a standard that literally no producer in the US meets at the moment. The industry group Industrial Energy Consumers of America (IECA) represents end-user firms that employ 750,000 in various industries, and they concur:

IECA members have 6 units that were part of the best performing units and none can comply with the standards based on the best performing units. Based on the analysis of the data EPA used to develop these standards, it appears that none of the coal-fired boilers in the source category can meet the proposed standards.

What happens when the installed boilers don’t meet the new standard? Factories and other facilities will have to close, putting jobs in danger and firms already hammered by the recession will lose production days — which will destroy jobs. That’s why the United Steel Workers have sounded the alarm, insisting that the EPA’s proposal will mean disaster:

“Tens of thousands of these jobs will be imperiled. In addition, many more tens of thousands of jobs in the supply chains and in the communities where these plants are located also will be at risk.”

Nor are steelworkers the only group at risk. New industrial standards for Portland cement threaten to stop all American production in the name of environmental protection — and send the work overseas to China, where ironically the standards are more lax and more pollution will result:

“So rather than importing 20 million tons of cement per year, the proposed [rule] will lead to cement imports of more than 48 million tons per year. In other words, by tightening the regulations on U.S. cement kilns, there will be a risk transfer of some 28 million tons of cement offshore, mostly to China.”

Hot Air Exclusive: EPW report shows new EPA rules will cost more than 800,000 jobs

Add in all the jobs put on hold by small business owners all over the country, and Jobs lost in the oil business. We're looking at well over a possible million additional jobs lost.

And no I do not have any links to the numbers.

When Obama sid he'd create jobs, he neglected to tell us that it would be for the other nations of the world.

When Obama sid he'd create jobs, he neglected to tell us that it would be for the other nations of the world.

yes...Obama's goals for redistribution of wealth is to destroy America in the process....he'll take from America and give to other nations because America's exceptionalism must be stomped out.....we must all be "equalized" in the new world order of socialism...which of course means that the "rich" American middle class must disappear....all marxists disdain the middle class...what better way to destroy it than to destroy millions of jobs....?

Hot Air is a U.S. website providing news and commentary from a fiscal conservative and socially centrist points of view. It is written by Ed Morrissey and the pseudonymous Allahpundit.

Hot Air was founded by Michelle Malkin, a conservative author and blogger, in 2006. Although Malkin served as the publisher and CEO of Hot Air, she exercised little editorial control over the site's various commentators. Morrissey, a Roman Catholic, is the more socially conservative of the two current bloggers, whereas Allahpundit is more libertarian and an atheist. Hot Air also carries posts from a selection of conservative and libertarian bloggers in its "Green Room". In February 2010, Salem Communications[1] purchased Hot Air.

We are working our way to being a third world country.

Horseshit.

We are doing fine considering the Republicans on Wall Street stole billions that we had to replace.

We still have the finest universities in the world, and more of the world's usable land than any other country.

Conservatives are just whinning because they lost the last election.

An OP-ED from Hot Air? I'll bite, I guess.

New standards = cleaner air, water and soil. The OP-ED over exaggerates the "jobs lost" to make a political point - that being that profits are more important than the environment.

But I don't accept that.

The Repuiblicans on wall street.
That's amusing. Try checking voting patterns. You'll find that all those Blue States are among the wealthiest in the country.
The notion that rich people are all GOP voters is a myth.
For example. Sewickley ,PA a very wealthy suburb of Pittsburgh. Has voted democrat for decades.
Fact. White suburban liberals with large incomes voted overhwelmingly for Obama.
Sorry ..well not sorry to burst your bubble. You've been fed a line of horsepoopie by the media. The media so far in the bag for Obama, they will stop at nothing to cover for him.
BTW mnay of those very same people in media , especially electronic media are among the highest paid people in the country.

Wait a minute....

You mean that Democrats don't all hate rich people and capitalism?

And cite a source for your claims of "electronic media" people being "among the highest paid people in the country".

Is it surprising coming from the same EPA that stopped oil skimmers from skimming in the gulf because they were not removing enough of the oil.

lol

No, they don't hate rich people. They just say they do so poor people and those with class envy will vote for them. Kind of like Obama saying he will renegotiate NAFTA but sending Austan Goolsby there to tell the Canadians Obama was just kidding. A story the Obama campaign denied but is obviously the truth.
Any other red herrings here?
Glad that "clean air" (undefined how much cleaner it will be) is of more concern to you than people supporting their families. I thought liberals were all about the children?

I don't know about hating anyone. That's your problem.
As far as salries in electronoic media specifically on air and on camera talent web.bsu.edu Television News Salaries BTW the above is from 2003...it gets better...
While small market tv and radio salaries can be paltry. Larger market wwages for on camera and on air personalities are well above the averges seen in the first link.
A news anchor in the #100 market can make in excess fo $100,000 per year.
Add a zero to that in the top 10 desiganted market areas.
National news anchors such as Katie Couric make salaries in excess of $10 million per year. 60 Minutes anchor Leslie Stahl's last contract grossed her $7 million per year.

Do you think people like Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann are poor?...
Puhleeeeze... Unfortunately due to forum rules new posters cannot post links until their 15th post..
DO the work. Google salaries for radio and tv personalities or on air talent.

Does that mean you can't refute the numbers? Or the fact that these reforms are actually opposed by unions?

How about lives? Does the fact that people will starve to death when they can no longer find the jobs they trained for, because they are all illegal, mean nothing? What exactly does this do to protect the environment anyway? Do you seriously believe that shuffling the production of GHGs from one country to another is going to lessen the impact on the environment? I though that the AGW mantra was that we have to cut worldwide production of GHGs to protect the planet, not just change where they come from.
