Politics has lost it's meaning. It used to be about who had good ideas and who could make the mediocre ones work better. Now it's all about bashing whoever holds office - be it Dem or Rep. It's about making sure some indefinable party gets in power, the stuffed shirt that holds the office is irrelevant. It's more about some fool's ranting about issues he either doesn't have the capacity to understand, or is working off the biases that were handed down for generations than it is about the real issues and the correct set of informed solutions.
