Did you read the article. The part that is in Calf is in the middle of the desert and people have to drive 100 miles to just get to it. If your going to build a rail dont you think you should make it easier for the people in LA to use it

The new "train" is miraculously ineffective and inefficient because it doesn't start anyplace. The departure point is in the middle of nowhere. So people would have to drive to the train station. By that time, you're almost half way to Vegas, Why spend the price of a train ticket?

Even with government subsidy it is too expensive and too inefficient. Suppose the government subsidized the trains to where it was free. Free train to Vegas. People still have to drive out to the middle of noplace. They will have to park their cars someplace and pay a daily parking rate. Then they take the train, then a cab to wherever they are going as if they had taken a plane.

The thought was, that if there were a bullet train from Los Angeles to Vegas people would go for the day, a few hours, take in a show, dinner, then come back. That isn't going to happen with a train that goes from noplace to Vegas.

California wants to build it's own bullet train. They want to start with a couple of billion dollars building a train from no place that goes to another no place a few miles away. They want to built it where no one is, because that's the only place with land cheap enough to make the plan even somewhat feasible.

If we "drill, baby, drill", within ten years we will have sufficient oil supplies to tell the Saudis to go to hell. If we had started this ten years ago, we would now be reaping the benefits of that oil.

If we really wanted to screw the world, we could forbid export of American produced oil and gas, and create an internal market that would considerably lower energy prices. That would also lower the production costs of American made products, and bring some manufacturing back to this country.
