Obamas Convoluted Priorities

As President Obama greets world crisis after crisis with confused vacillation and impotence, a recent Gallup poll unsurprisingly suggests that Americans no longer believe that their president commands respect from foreign leaders. And why should they? The Presidents foreign policy has proved to be an exercise in defeatist isolationism, where tyrants are appeased and allies are thrown to the wolves.
In Ukraine, a nation where democracy advocates risk losing to the forces of extremism and where Russia stands poised to intervene militarily, our president remains mute while our defense chief expresses concern. The same scenario is currently unfolding in Venezuela where students and the middle class, fed up with rampant crime, autocratic rule and a tanking economy, have banded together against the Cuban- and Iranian-backed thuggish ruler of that country, Nicolás Maduro. Aside from expelling some Venezuelan diplomats, the administration has done nothing to bolster pro-democracy protestors.

And of course there is the administrations botched and near amateurish policies in the Mideast that have only served to embolden enemies, prolong conflict and alienate allies. In Syria, Obama drew his red line, warning Assad of the consequences of chemical weapons usage. That warning turned out to be nothing short of a fiasco, embarrassing the president and turning Russias Putin into the savior. Moreover, the presidents inaction severely weakened pro-Western elements in Syria and partly served as the catalyst that caused much of the rebel movement to fall under the influence of Islamic extremists.
In Egypt, the administration backed the fascist Muslim Brotherhood over a more Western-oriented movement that had the backing of much of the country. So angered were the Egyptians over the U.S. betrayal that they recently turned to Russia for arms, signing a two-billion dollar, Saudi-financed deal.

Twice Israel has succumbed to Obamas pressure and twice paid the steep price for failing to say no, but the stakes this time around are much higher. Israel is now expected to cede the strategic Jordan Valley and the Samarian mountain ranges to sworn enemies while exposing its industrial and populated centers to Palestinian rocket and mortar fire.
The world is plagued with other more pressing matters. From Eastern Europe to South America, Iran to the South China Sea, complete conflagration is a hairs breadth away. Mr. President, if you want yet another Nobel Prize there are more pressing matters at hand, so please look elsewhere and leave the only thriving democracy in the Middle East alone.

President Obama remains as sensitive to criticism as he remains immune to reality. Speaking at a news conference in the Hague, Obama addressed criticism directed at him by Mitt Romney, who insisted during the 2012 presidential campaign that Russia is Americas foremost foreign policy concern. With respect to Mr. Romneys assertion that Russia is our number one geopolitical foe, the truth of the matter is that America has a whole lot of challenges, said the president. So what is one of the presidents primary concerns? I continue to be much more concerned when it comes to our security with the prospect of a nuclear weapon going off in Manhattan, said Obama. Thats a breathtaking assertion, one completely at odds with both Obamas s reckless foreign policy.
It was during the 2012 campaign that the president continually reminded Americans al Qaeda is on the run and Osama bin Laden is dead. Yet even then, inconvenient reality intruded in the form of four Americans killed in an unambiguous terrorist attack in Benghazi, less than two months before the election. That attack caused the president to temporarily drop references to al Qaeda from his stump speech. But soon he was back at it, undoubtedly buttressed by a media that not only remained calculatingly disinterested in the Benghazi incident itself, but the disinformation campaign that immediately followed it as well.

In a November appearance at the 92nd Y in Manhattan, Israeli politician Naftali Bennett minced no words when it came to Iran. These are very fateful days, Bennett told the audience. If a decade from now, God forbid, a nuclear suitcase blows up in an American city, we will be able to trace it back to these days. Sadly, these are the days of an Obama administration with an unfathomable combination of arrogance and ignorance that makes such a possibility more real with each passing day.

Monday’s decision from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to affirm the halting of the President’s DAPA amnesty program was a mighty big win for immigration patriots around the country. But the ramifications of the court’s decision may actually be bigger than most appreciate. The recently leaked revelations that the President has other, grander plans besides DAPA to hand out work permits en masse means that his wider immigration agenda may also now be in flux. The same goes for previously enacted work permit giveaways, including the 2012 DACA amnesty as well as other equally unlawful programs aimed at appeasing the President, the Hispanic extremist lobbies, and the Big Business. In his final year in office, we may just see the toppling of Obama’s entire immigration legacy.
Unlike the previous court decisions in the States’ case against amnesty, which have focused more on the deportation-deferral portion of DAPA, the Fifth Circuit’s decision on Monday targeted the President’s purported employment authorization powers. As the court described Obama’s attorneys’ position on this issue, “[t]he interpretation of those provisions that the Secretary advances would allow him to grant lawful presence and work authorization to any illegal alien in the United States” (emphasis mine). This they called, “an untenable position in light of the INA's intricate system of immigration classifications and employment eligibility.” For a close discussion of that “intricate system” see here. The majority further stated “the INA flatly does not permit the reclassification of millions of illegal aliens as lawfully present and thereby make them newly eligible for a host of federal and state benefits, including work authorization.” (emphasis mine). This was a big hit to a central part of the Obama team’s argument.

As IRLI had argued in our friend-of-the-court brief in support of the States’ case against DAPA, DOJ refused to explain in its briefs how the provision gives the DHS Secretary such power, opting instead to simply conclude that it does. But obscuring the law for political reasons is not what our government’s attorneys are supposed to do. This week, the court agreed.

But just before we get started on the plan, let's talk a little bit about the case. There is no question that the wheels are coming off of Western civilization. And the problem is that the wheels have come off of every civilization, and they've come off of every civilization in exactly the same way throughout history, starting with the Babylonians, the Assyrians, the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Romans. Same pattern every time, every time we see it. And I didn't understand it until very recently.
But just to make the case -- when you flood the country with illegal immigrants who bring a great deal of crime, a great deal of social disruption -- we have to carry them on the social roles that are already overstuffed due to the Cloward-Piven strategy that I know so many of you know about. And when we do all of this just in exchange for votes for one party, we're now talking about a criminal enterprise that would rather rule over the ruins than be part of governing a successful and happy republic. That's just true.
If you look at the European invasion, this latest invasion of Muslim immigrants that are coming up, so-called families of people trying to seek, you know, asylum, when 98 percent of them are military-age men who are screaming about jihad, and you put 750 Muslim refugees in a German village that holds just 105 people. One hundrend and five people in a village in Germany have been forced to accept 750 Syrian refugees, and people in Bavaria are talking civil war in Germany. That's happening this week. That's happening today.
When you talk about things like just the war on the police in America, this idea that the policemen do nothing but walk through the streets and execute black people in this country; and you look at the way the inversion of crime statistics has been [presented to] the American people, you can see that the world is really in trouble, that we are living in an upside-down world in terms of morality.
And by the way, this Black Lives Matter movement is just street thugs designed to interrupt and disrupt people who are having regular conversations. They're just the SA. That's all they are. They're just the street thugs that are designed to shut people up through violence and intimidation. That's here in the streets of America today.
We can talk about the destruction of the military in this country. Many people think it's a result of cut budgets or reduced budgets or so on. No. They're destroying the morale of the military. They're making it impossible for honorable warriors to stay in the military. And they are resigning in massive numbers because the Obama Administration is providing them with so many onerous, dishonorable, disgraceful activities that they're required to comply with that they're simply leaving and getting out. The warriors are getting out, and the people that are left are the generals that brag about having the greenest base in the entire Air Force, instead of the most operational base in the entire Air Force.
And I don't think, finally, we have to look very far to see that the Justice Department is no longer charged with enforcing the laws of the United States of America so much as it's an attack dog to be deployed by the Democratic leadership against political enemies. And laws will be enforced when it suits them to enforce them, such as against a filmmaker who made a ridiculous movie about Mohammad that we're going to blame the Benghazi catastrophe on; or another filmmaker, who makes a movie about Barack Obama's true background and winds up in a detention facility for eight months of his life, named Dinesh D'Souza; when people who do 50 times or 100 times worse than this are given a slap on the wrist, if anything at all.

Barack Obama's demagogic presidency has unleashed state-sanctioned mob violence to a degree not seen since the Jim Crow era.
Obama-approved lynch mobs have been helping to force the fundamental transformation of America that the radical left-wing community organizer promised on the campaign trail in 2008. Creating little armies of malcontents has long been the way Obama's fellow Marxist agitators have turned groups in society against each other in order to generate the civil unrest and societal instability needed to effect unwanted change. Sometimes thugs get things done that elections can't.
Obama's presidency is a case study in defining deviancy down by attempting to de-stigmatize criminality, including the legitimization of street justice. It has had a Maoist flavor to it as violent mobs in the streets have assisted in carrying out Obama's political objectives. And those fomenting the chaos, such as the community organizers of the Justice Department's Community Relations Service (CRS), have often been on the government payroll.
Also underwriting these subversive activities is anti-American hedge fund manager George Soros who publicly likens the U.S. to Nazi Germany and considers this nation to be the greatest threat to peace and order in the world. Like many leftists, Soros praises the brutal totalitarian government of the People's Republic of China for its supposed vision and efficiency.

At Columbia University, leftist enforcers are intimidating students into joining solidarity protests against the invented racism that activists have been hallucinating at Yale and the University of Missouri.
The New York Post reported on Sunday that
Columbia student activists are pestering peers to attend campus protests and walk-outs in solidarity with college students at Missouri and Yale or risk social isolation, students say. Organizers posted flyers and sent Facebook messages inviting undergraduates to wear black clothing and join two demonstrations last Thursday to support people of color who are “marginalized and threatened.”
But some students worried they would be “ostracized” if they did not participate or dress in sync, one college parent said. “There’s been a campaign of intimidation, where students are going dorm to dorm, floor to floor and asking students to go back to their dorms and put on black if they’re not wearing black,” the parent said.
“My daughter told me people are uneasy and fearful,” she added. “Her personal politics are left-wing and she shares their sympathies, but she doesn’t like to feel that she can’t wear blue if she wants to wear blue.”
A protest leader led an angry mob in a series of chants, including “I love black people,” “I love queer black people,” “I love black criminals,” and “I love black people who steal.”
At Yale and elsewhere, student mobs have been spitting on conservatives and gunning for administrators' heads.

President Obama is fine with all of this mob activity. He offers perfunctory denunciations of violence in a monotone while expressing his sympathy for the mob and whatever its current cause may be. The unspoken message to his fellow rabble-rousers is: bombs away!
Without his blessing, Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, and the newly emboldened iteration of the campus thought police might never have arisen.
And if Obama weren't president right now, he would be out in the streets orchestrating the violence instead of leaving all the fun to the other community organizers.

Here's one reason our counterterrorism efforts are crippled. Instead of fighting Muslim terrorists, our best people are struggling with political correctness, as John Schindler reports at the Observer. (Via Nick Short)
That concern is widespread in American counterterrorism circles, where the Obama administration’s worries about appearing “Islamophobic” are well known. This White House early on warned intelligence personnel about using the term “Islamic terrorism” even in classified reports that would never be released to the public. “Since 2009 we’ve opened investigations of groups we knew to be harmless,” explained a Pentagon counterterrorism official, “they weren’t Muslims, and we needed some ‘balance’ in case the White House asked if we were ‘profiling’ potential terrorists.”
It's bad enough when this happens all the time in local policing (and has gotten worse since Obama began his Ferguson War on Cops), but in counterterrorism it means that the opportunity to prevent mass casualty attacks which can kill dozens, hundreds or even thousands, is sacrificed to plausible deniability.
The people on the front lines on the battlefield and in investigation and analysis have to first create plausible deniability to avoid accusations of Islamophobia. They have to lay down false trails for the White House Social Justice Warriors, fend off the Islamist CAIR Crybullies and then hope that they'll be allowed to do their job.
The Muslim terrorists and their accomplices have won.

Here's one reason our counterterrorism efforts are crippled. Instead of fighting Muslim terrorists, our best people are struggling with political correctness, as John Schindler reports at the Observer. (Via Nick Short)
That concern is widespread in American counterterrorism circles, where the Obama administration’s worries about appearing “Islamophobic” are well known. This White House early on warned intelligence personnel about using the term “Islamic terrorism” even in classified reports that would never be released to the public. “Since 2009 we’ve opened investigations of groups we knew to be harmless,” explained a Pentagon counterterrorism official, “they weren’t Muslims, and we needed some ‘balance’ in case the White House asked if we were ‘profiling’ potential terrorists.”
It's bad enough when this happens all the time in local policing (and has gotten worse since Obama began his Ferguson War on Cops), but in counterterrorism it means that the opportunity to prevent mass casualty attacks which can kill dozens, hundreds or even thousands, is sacrificed to plausible deniability.
The people on the front lines on the battlefield and in investigation and analysis have to first create plausible deniability to avoid accusations of Islamophobia. They have to lay down false trails for the White House Social Justice Warriors, fend off the Islamist CAIR Crybullies and then hope that they'll be allowed to do their job.
The Muslim terrorists and their accomplices have won.

The latest investigation comes just days after the Washington Free Beacon disclosed that an additional 41 foreign-born individuals who legally entered the United States had been arrested for planning a number of terror attacks.
Sens. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) and Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.) disclosed Monday that they had been pressuring the Obama administration for months to disclose the immigration histories of these foreign-born individuals implicated in terror plots.
Agencies including the Departments of State and Homeland Security have stonewalled these efforts, declining since mid-2015 to provide Congress additional information. This move has prompted speculation among lawmakers that the administration is withholding information to prevent the exposure of major gaps in the U.S. screening process for new immigrants.
“The American people are entitled to information on the immigration history of terrorists seeking to harm them,” Cruz and Sessions wrote to the secretaries of State and Homeland Security and the attorney general.
Similar requests for information issued sent in August and again in December have not been answered by the administration

When Obama chose to lead the anti-Israel lynch mob at the Security Council last week, he did more than deliver the PLO terrorist organization its greatest victory to date against Israel. He delivered a strategic victory to the anti-American forces that seek to destroy the coherence of American superpower status. That is, he carried out a strategic strike on American power.
By leading the gang rape of Israel on Friday, Obama undermined the rationale for American power. Why should the US assert a sovereign right to stand against the radical forces that control the UN? If US agrees that Israel is committing a crime by respecting the civil and human rights of its citizens to live in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, then how can America claim that it has the right to defend its own rights and interests, when those clash with the views of the vast majority of state members of the UN? Following Obama’s assault on Israel Friday, Senators Lindsay Graham and Ted Cruz called for the US to end its financial support for the UN at least until the Security Council abrogates Resolution 2334. They are correct.
But it isn’t anger at how Obama has and is expected to continue to use the Security Council to imperil Israel that should inform the incoming Trump administration’s actions. Rather a determination to maintain US power and secure its national security requires that the UN be permanently defunded and defanged.
For eight years, through his embrace and empowerment of US enemies, betrayal and weakening of US allies, emaciation of the US armed forces and repeated apologies for America’s past assertions of global leadership, Obama has waged a determined war against US superpower status. The last vestige of the strategic and moral rationale for US power was the protection America afforded Israel at the Security Council.
Now with that gone, it has become a strategic imperative for the US to render the UN irrelevant. This can only be undertaken by permanently defunding this corrupt institution and using the US’s Security Council veto to end the UN’s role as the arbiter of international peace and security, by among other things, ending the deployment of UN forces to battle zones.
Only by stripping the UN of its financial wherewithal to assault US allies and American interests and by denying it the institutional and operational capacity to serve as an arbiter of disputes morally and legally superior to the US can America protect its sovereignty and advance its interests.
Only by denying those associated with the UN the prestige that confers to an institution legitimized by democrat and autocrat alike can the incoming Trump administration rebuild America’s reputation and power.
It is not surprising that Obama is carrying out the final act of his presidency at the UN. Obama has made no attempt to hide his desire to eliminate America’s independence of action. By elevating the post of UN ambassador to a cabinet level position at the outset of his presidency, Obama signaled his conviction that this corrupt institution is the equal of the US government.
This early signal was transformed into an open policy when Obama used the Security Council as a means to bypass the US Senate in implementing his nuclear deal with Iran.

To be sure, while Obama had little interest in hard work, and little skill at responsible governance, he was still eager to hear himself talk – and to use the bully pulpit to promote his ideological views. So one of his first major acts as president was to go to Cairo and give a “speech to the Muslim world” that, as I wrote in my book Surrender, was “a staggering pastiche of half-truths, exaggerations, and utter nonsense about Islamic history” and “an implicit announcement that his administration's policy toward the Muslim world would be one of shameless appeasement.” So much for any hope that Obama would stand up to the Islamization of the West.
And how fitting it was that, after having begun his presidency by brown-nosing Islam, he ended it by kicking Israel in the cojones. I need not go into detail about the massive mess he has made in these last eight years – the ways in which he's alienated America's allies while kowtowing to its enemies, stood up for criminals while rebuking cops, whitewashed Islam while ignoring its Jewish and Christian victims in the Middle East, defended illegal aliens while sneering at law-abiding, hard-working citizens, and lauded “community organizers” while demonizing entrepreneurs. The list goes on: the Obamacare fiasco, the climate-change fraud, and so on. Not least, there's his sowing of racial discord: how stunning that a man so capable of articulating a noble vision of a post-racial America could turn out to be so toxically obsessed with race, so thoroughly convinced that America is still steeped in racism, so gifted at creating and aggravating racial division while claiming that his goal is to heal.
But as bad a president as Obama has been, imagine how much more damage he could have done if not for his laziness. Fortunately for all of us, it turned out that his sloth exceeded his determination to transform America into Venezuela. If he's leaving office with a far higher level of popular support than he deserves, it's not because of anything he's accomplished but, in large part, because a lot of people who don't pay close attention to politics, and who haven't been personally damaged by his policies, retain an admiration for his style. He's smooth, he's suave, he's “cool.” That “cool” factor seduced a lot of voters in 2008. But over the years it has seemed increasingly clear that that “cool” factor was a function of his indifference. I was thinking about this the other day and it suddenly occurred to me whom he reminded me of : Dean Martin.

There you have it: in 2008, American voters were seduced by high-flown oratory and a promise of spectacular social and cultural transformation, only to discover that they'd been stuck with a master of menefreghismo, a slick character who was all talk (except when he decided to do something outright damaging and probably petty). Is it any surprise that in 2016 the electorate turned to a literal Chairman of the Board, a man of action, a man who had behind him a long, hands-on career of actually building things, a man who, eschewing lofty words, spoke in a blunt, honest, and no-nonsense way about the issues – even Islam! – and about the nuts-and-bolts business of fixing problems and getting things done?

In order to do so, Obama dropped charges against Amin Ravan, an arms smuggler responsible for the deaths of hundreds of U.S. soldiers fighting in Iraq. Daily Mail has the details:
