The provisional global figure for 2007 using data from January to November, currently places the year as the seventh warmest on records dating back to 1850.

The year 2007 tied for second warmest in the period of instrumental data, behind the record warmth of 2005, in the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) analysis. 2007 tied 1998, which had leapt a remarkable 0.2°C above the prior record with the help of the "El Niño of the century". The unusual warmth in 2007 is noteworthy because it occurs at a time when solar irradiance is at a minimum and the equatorial Pacific Ocean is in the cool phase of its natural El Niño-La Niña cycle.

Figure 1 shows 2007 temperature anomalies relative to the 1951-1980 base period mean. The global mean temperature anomaly, 0.57°C (about 1°F) warmer than the 1951-1980 mean, continues the strong warming trend of the past thirty years that has been confidently attributed to the effect of increasing human-made greenhouse gases (GHGs) (Hansen et al. 2007). The eight warmest years in the GISS record have all occurred since 1998, and the 14 warmest years in the record have all occurred since 1990.

Ah, the Global Warming faithful still cling to their dogma!

Facts are facts folks - the earth has been cooling - and rather significantly, in the last few years. There was a general warming that culminated in 1998, followed by flat temps, followed by declining temps.

Numerous mainstream media outlets, supported by the quick-to-print "science articles", had declared 2007 was to be the hottest year on record - even warmer than 1998. It was not. Far from it in fact. 2007 was cooler than 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2001....etc. It was in fact cooler than 1995.

The supporters of Global Warming, the scientists who get funding to write articles declaring its fact - the media outlets who make it news, the industries such as Enron who spent millions spreading its mantra, hoped 2007 proved to be a mere anomoly - a hiccup on the way to a continued (albeit slight, as it has always been greatly exaggerated) warming trend.

So then came 2008 - a year significantly colder than 2007. In fact, 2008 tied or broke 115 cold temperature records around the world.

And the start of 2009 is proving to be colder than that of 2008.

So the din of the Global Warming aka Climate Change junta has now reached an all time high. Story after story is hitting the media about how something must be done NOW before it is too late...and yet, this time around, the majority are not listening so much. A recent poll showed of 20 topics of concern to Americans Global Warming ranked dead last. Another poll showed a majority of Americans now feel global warming has less to do with humankind as it does with the natural cycles of earth's climate. (Imagine that!)

And even some in the mainstream media are questioning the hoax, asking questions of it for once, and disputing the over-reaching claims by the science industry beholden to keeping global warming propped up. This industry has a friend in Obama, who, like almost all Democrats, are deeply vested in selling the hysteria that is Global Warming, even as more and more voters shrug over its growing insignificance to their daily lives.

Frankly, I would like a bit warmer temps - these past few years have been far too cold, particularly the winter months. But of course if 2009 sees a nice warm summer, the Global Warming machinery will be churning the propaganda out tenfold so as to assure continued $$$$ to be made.

I guess that's true if you stretch the definition of "significantly" to it utmost limit and by "few" mean three or four. But considering 2008 was only the 142nd or so coldest out of the last 150, that's a real big stretch.

Nothing can be achieved by way of controlling atmospheric levels of CO2 without the active participation of China, India and other developing nations. It is a global issue, and the U.S. cannot make a significant impact, even if it were to adopt extreme measures. By now, China has become the largest emitter of CO2.

I had to listen for a month, to the USMB flat earth society proclaim that the University of Illinois Arctic research center had reported that sea ice is the same now, as it was in 1979.

I posted the statement from the University of Illinois that no such report exists, and they have no idea where the flat earthers came up with that.

I wonder why flat earthers avoided that thread, or avoided admitting that they fabricated. that story?

When you get caught posting lies, and routinely get caught posting links from a "think tank" in oregon, which turns out to be a few crack pots on a rural farm in oregon, your side has lost all credibility.
