So there is no agenda here? This from Obama and Biden who wanted famlies left out of the campaign, and wanted the media to back off Sarah Palin? This seems tittle bit more proof that the Obama you see , thats packaged and produced is not the same one that you see when you actually stop to look beyond the movie.

And the presidential election of 2008 has prompted an air-drop of attorneys in a state better known for bush-pilots: "It's no surprise... that Democrats have airdropped a mini-army of 30 lawyers investigators and opposition researchers into Anchorage, the state capital Juneau and (Gov. Sarah) Palin's hometown of Wasilla to dig into her record and background,'' notes the Wall Street Journal's John Fund.

He reports that the Democratic dirt-diggers are looking most closely at Palin's dismissal of her public safety commissioner, with critics claiming he wouldn't bow to pressure to fire Palin's brother in law, Mike Wooten, enmeshed in a custody battle with her sister. The family, of course, has accused him of using a Taser on his 10-year-old.

Palin returns to Alaska for the first time in nearly two weeks on Wednesday night, Fund notes, and fellow Republicans plan a "Welcome Home" rally. Fund suggests that there may be a few rental cars and "fancy dress shoes'' on the gumshoes in the crowd.

How 'bout a link?

I told you. Everyone is praising Obama for being "above" the rhetoric...but he's in the middle of it, too. The only difference is he's lying when he claims he wants change, and he's lying when he says he doesn't participate in the mud slinging.

I figure the might leave the family alone but everthing else is fair game I'm sure. Politicians are such a scummy bunch. Are any of them capable of campaigning on their strengths ?

dillo, I didn't think for a moment that this would just up and disappear, there is too much invested in this by both sides , in time and money and power. The point of this post is to show that Obama is not the *hope and change* person he say's he is, hes no different than any other politician that wants that office and to portray himself otherwise is doing a diservice to his party and to the country should he get elected.

agreed--no one is on the high road. I'm not even sure they could find it if they looked for it. It's just plain ugly.

Palin lied and got caught. Now her staff will not talk to investigators without being subpoenaed. She knows she is guilty, and she is trying to cover her tracks with the dustrake of reasoned and sober subterfuge......

I'm confused... what does investigating something that reeks of misuse of power have to do with not getting families involved in the campaign? Because the guy she is her brother in law?

And no one really believes the taser thing was the motivating factor, navy, no matter how much spin the right puts on it.

I find it so funny that the right is offended that the dems want to win... I heard no such complaints when Trent Lott's staff went down to FL in 2000 to "protest" in Boca...

If she DID talk now I wouldnt even consider voting for her. She would be an idiot to talk about it. Any idiot knows not to talk in a situation like this and I'm sure her attorney agrees.

Except that *she* supposedly demanded the investigation. :eusa_whistle:

"any hiring is presumed to be "at will"; that is, the employer is free to discharge individuals "for good cause, or bad cause, or no cause at all," and the employee is equally free to quit, strike, or otherwise cease work.[1]

Although all U.S. states have a number of statutory protections for employees, most wrongful termination suits brought under statutory causes of action use the federal anti-discrimination statutes which prohibit firing or refusing to hire an employee because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or handicap status. Other reasons an employer may not use to fire an at-will employee are:

for refusing to commit illegal acts – An employer is not permitted to fire an employee because the employee refuses to commit an act that is illegal.
family or medical leave – federal law permits most employees to take a leave of absence for specific family or medical problems. An employer is not permitted to fire an employee who takes family or medical leave for a reason outlined in the Family and Medical Leave Act.
not following own termination procedures – often, the employee handbook or company policy outlines a procedure that must be followed before an employee is terminated. If the employer fires an employee without following this procedure, the employee may have a claim for wrongful termination.
At-will employment - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The bottom line is this, the guy was an "at will employee" and at anytime she could fire him for any reason. other than those stated above. The investigation in this so called trooper-gate won't amount to much.

There is no upside for Obama with this. If they find dirt, he will be vilified for attacking her and all the while, McCain will be whistling in the background. If Obama were half as smart as people say he is, these lawyers would be in Arizona.

She lied to the public when she said that no one on her staff talked to public safety about the trooper. The have audiotapes, emails, and multiple witnesses. She is guilty as hell. Watch the video...

finally!!!, your exactly right onthefence, no matter what he finds now on her at this point it serves nothing but to energize my party even more. I for one, say thats fine with me, to be honest, I live in Arizona, and personally thought the Obama people would be here in droves making hay over the Keating 5 thing here. Instead they are worked up in a freenzy over his VP pick.

Actually, at will employment means that you can fire for any reason or no reason at all, but not for an illegal reason. There are also other factors involved with the misuse of power issue that are separate and apart from whether the firing was a legal one.

Good. I hope they drop hundreds of investigators into Alaska to get the truth out about Palin. The Republicans, through no fault of Palins, are trying way too hard to keep her past under wraps.

Obama said that the media should leave her kids and family out of the news, not her record. Everyone wants to know more about this person that two weeks of no one had heard of.

What is it that you don't get about bringing someone up to speed ?
Hell even pro quarterbacks sit on the sidelines to become familiar with a game plan. Or are you naive enough to think that they shouldnt even HAVE a game plan ?
